what an amazing dramedy. especially the first several seasons. so many wonderful characters, it really has something for everyone. buttery voiced john corbetts seamless radio-narration and its philosophical bent fits right in with a town full of quirky personalities. the indigenous population playing a wonderful straight-man to the town. it even holds up well. the remoteness denotes a lack of tech that isnt too far out of place today. this is one of those shows where you just want to be a part of it. it could also never be replicated/rebooted successfully... lighting striking twice and all that. anyone else have such fond memories of _[northern exposure](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098878/)_? im about to start my per-decade rewatch.

When Hollywood’s writers and actors went on strike last year, it was, in part, because of AI. Actors didn’t care for the notion that their likenesses could be used without their permission, whether by the studios that hired them that week or by someone at home with a computer in 2040. Writers didn’t want to do punch-ups on potentially crummy AI scripts or have their words (or ideas) cannibalized by large language models that didn’t pay them a dime. But while some Hollywood filmmakers came out of the strikes fearful of how AI might wreck their industries, others wanted to learn more. This week, many of those filmmakers gathered in a movie theater in Culver City, California, for the inaugural Culver Cup, a generative-AI film competition sponsored by FBRC.AI and Amazon Web Services.

Planning to watch through Jordan Peele's movies for the spooky season and thought it'd be nice to expand that out to other movies from POC creatives. My current list includes *Sorry to Bother You* (another favorite of mine I've been meaning to rewatch), *Bad Hair*, *Horror Noire*, and *Ganja & Hess*. Any other movies that fit the theme that you would suggest? They certainly don't have to stick to African American/Black creatives, and English isn't a must, but would be preferred.

I really liked 'the cosby show'. it was a significant change in the demonstration of a successful, minority family. its funny. it also holds up well; the writing did not date itself _too_ much to the era. but, ya know... Cosby. can you separate the artist from the art? a part of me feels like i should still be able to enjoy the show even though he is a terrible person. thoughts?

I tend to avoid the network TV / procedural style shows. I gave this one a try because it was made by CBC and set in Greater Vancouver (Surrey). Nothing is ever set here lol It's decent, and it touches on more complex topics (ex. harm reduction) fairly well. It also doesn't rely on relationship drama (as of episode 4), which I appreciate. I'd give it an 7.5/10 so far. I assume the low ratings on IMDB are because of some review bombing 
I am mostly referring to show or movie creators answering questions in ways that might effect the lore. They don't have to be plot holes, super significant, or still held to be canon. For example maybe it was a small detail they elaborated on or they answered a long running question. I was originally going to give the example of why characters in Star Wars don't toggle their light sabers on and off during combat but it seems like [the explanation I was more of a fan theory from what I can tell](https://www.looper.com/1432243/star-wars-deadliest-lightsaber-technique-turn-opponent-off/). --- The question can also apply to video games if you have an answer with one of them.
the format of displaying the murder even before the credits. the quirkiness.. almost feigned ignorance. that said it is different enough to be unique. the character is much more charismatic.. theres all that backstory included with the murder-of-the-week. comedy is up a notch. im only half way through the season, but its kinda great! Had just finished watching The Woody Woodpecker Show a hour ago and enjoyed it because there was more classic Woody cartoons than what I watched on Tubi prior to subscribing to FrndlyTV for my regular television, and in my opinion it’s worth the fee because I like to watch older programming rather than the shows and demographics of all the current networks. I just watched Termites from Mars (1952) and Woody dealt with the termites with _tape._ I also tuned in a couple of times to watch The Scooby-Doo Sunday Special (in other words, The New Scooby-Doo Movies (1970s) and possibly Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo (1970s-80s)).
