Soviet SciFi books?

I'd be interested in getting into Soviet SciFi literature. Does anyone have recommendations for me?

  • Just had a company event and out of nowhere they all started talking about ma freeze peach and how China is "literally 1984" and how we can see that our main conflicts nowadays are between "evil autocracy" and "democracy with western values where it could never happen that the press is lying". I had to bite my tongue so hard the entire time, which I think they noticed. In the end I just said that I don't want to provoke the inevitable world war 3 even more, which killed the mood hard lol. It's so frustrating to be alone in a group of "intellectuals"... Especially if you need to stay civil to not get fired.

So I was wondering how I can get better at analysing the world through dialectical materialism. I've read a fair share of theory and other comprehensive stuff about dialectics and materialism and I do think I get the core principles. What I think I need is to get some kind of practice to overcome my idealist way of thinking. I'm not really sure what I'm looking for, maybe a collection of applied examples, maybe even exercises with solutions? Or you could let me know how you guys got better at thinking in a marxist way. Thanks in advance!

I know people are saying Shanghai is a shitshow because of the local government. But do you think it might have been a bad idea in general to deploy such a harsh policy in the country? (asking in good faith as someone who would not mentally survive such long lockdowns)

According to experts "Not even the Russian people could prevent a regression to a communist or socialist dictatorship." https://www.nau.ch/news/wirtschaft/ukraine-krieg-russland-macht-ruckschritt-zur-sowjetunion-66147383

I also got converted into an ML by GenZedong. I was already drifting away from being a social democrat at the time and started to mostly sympathize with anarchists. I followed some general socialist subreddits and it was actually Reddit that kept notifying me on GenZedong posts. I remember how shocked I was first that there were actually people supporting China l(mao). But then I kept clicking on the recommended posts because they sounded intriguing and slowly got to respect the sub more and more, realizing how much propaganda I've actually been exposed to. So I guess thank you... Reddit push notifications?
