- Amputate - Abysmal Ascent (Portugal) - [Anhedonic - Emissary [EP] (USA-OR)](https://shanelyons.bandcamp.com/album/emissary) (instrumental) - [Carnosus - Wormtales (Sweden)](https://carnosus.bandcamp.com/album/wormtales) (obviously I have an enormous hard-on for this band, and the new one didn't disappoint) - [Deivos - Apophenia (Poland)](https://deivos.bandcamp.com/album/apophenia) - [Infant Annihilator - Mister Sister Fister: Re-Conception [EP] (US-FL/UK-ENG)](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_l9jBCfOn86HxvZkyGxBDDDg8wcRVgJZ4Y&si=DImSyibaoYVhX0Iw) (tech deathcore, definitely not tech death, but likely relevant to our interests here)
Oops, a few days late, but it was a pretty light week anyway - [Tribunal of Carnage - Kerajaan Bulan (Malaysia)](https://tribunalofcarnage.bandcamp.com/album/kerajaan-bulan) (instrumental tech melodic death) - [Unleash Carnage - A Plague Tale (CAN-QC)](https://unleashcarnage.bandcamp.com/album/a-plague-tale) (death metal/deathcore)

Hell yeah. And I usually struggle with instrumental metal, but these guys are a reliable exception

Lol I didn’t even notice the shirt, that’s awesome. Yeah all I know is I’m stoked for the album. On purpose, I haven’t listened to the singles a ton so far, so I’m excited to see how the new LP compares to the previous two when it’s out in its full glory.
Whoa just discovered this by accident, super sick. Looks like it's part of an EP coming out on October 18, when I'll be distracted by new Carnosus
- [Asylum Purgatory - Rise of the Dread King (CAN-QC)](https://asylumpurgatory.bandcamp.com/album/rise-of-the-dread-king) - [Carnosus - Yearnings of a Rotten Spine (Single) (Sweden)](https://youtu.be/-x8swwimu_I?si=VWW4E8BFUC2Haaql) - [Livløs - The Crescent King (Denmark)](https://livloesband.bandcamp.com/album/the-crescent-king) - [Maul - In the Jaws of Bereavement (USA-ND)](https://listen.20buckspin.com/album/in-the-jaws-of-bereavement) - [Swarm Effect - Cotard's Syndrome (Ukraine)](https://swarmeffect.bandcamp.com/album/cotards-syndrome) - [Wind Rose - Trollslayer (Italy)](https://wind-rose.bandcamp.com/album/trollslayer) (lol)
Per Carnosus’s Facebook page, Toilet ov Hell is doing an early debut of tomorrow’s new single, Yearnings of a Rotten Spine!

Lmao yes bring back the Slipknot memes. Also wow, I hadn’t checked the lineup, never occurred to me it was a solo effort
These guys' latest album really took me by surprise, so I went through their discography, and it's a fun trip
- [A Thousand Wounds - S/T (USA-FL)](https://athousandwounds.bandcamp.com/album/a-thousand-wounds) (arguably technical deathcore) - [The Black Dahlia Murder - Servitude (USA-MI)](https://theblackdahliamurder.bandcamp.com/album/servitude) (melodeath) - [Blighted Eye - Agony's Bespoke (USA-WA)](https://beyondthetoprecords.bandcamp.com/album/agonys-bespoke) (missed this one last -week) - Buicide - Aftermath Existence (Russia) - [Obsidian Mantra - As We All Will (Poland)](https://obsidianmantra.bandcamp.com/album/as-we-all-will) - [Ophidian Memory - Carrion Lord (USA-IA)](https://ophidianmemory.bandcamp.com/album/carrion-lord) - [Pesterous Mind - Endcide (Germany)](https://pesterousmind.bandcamp.com/album/omnivore-endcide) - [Radiant Black - Rituals of Anarchy (Israel)](https://radiantblack.bandcamp.com/album/rituals-of-anarchy)

Ey hell yeah, that album was a fun surprise for sure
- Aro Ora - The Twelfth Hour (France) - [Vitur - Transcending the Self (Poland)](https://vitur.bandcamp.com/album/transcending-the-self)
- [Brinicle - Perceptions of Reality (Colombia)](https://brinicle1.bandcamp.com/album/perceptions-of-reality) - [Crypt Crawler - The Immortal Realm (AUS-WA)](https://cryptcrawlermetal.bandcamp.com/album/the-immortal-realm) - [Insurrection - Obsolescence (CAN-QC)](https://insurrectioncanada.bandcamp.com/album/obsolescence) - [Soulmass - Promise [EP] (USA-FL)](https://soulmass.bandcamp.com/album/promise)
ffo Griefgod, so I guess melodic tech? idk I'm not great with labels, but don't sleep on this
Even more!
From their Facebook page: “New single premieres early this Wednesday, Sept 11 over at Heavy Blog is Heavy! Available on all streaming platforms Friday, Sept 13.”
More "title track on S/T"
Another, another!
Light on certified tech this week, but some good ones - [Corpse Worship - Cemetery Anthems (Russia)](https://coyoterecords.bandcamp.com/album/cemetery-anthems) (not really tech, but pretty cool) - [Grimaze - The Heart of a Collapsing Star (Bulgaria)](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLw1mEbkjhv8euQQ2iBPlZXArjB4rgOoQY&si=L4ZZlTfyRToZy2JV)
Another "title track from eponymous release" example!

Lmao right? See also: Aethere, Aethereus, Aetherius, and Aetherian
How’d everyone like the new Vale? I see what people are saying about the stylistic shift, but this is still sick

Ooh sounds like a fun watch!

Well that was super cool, exciting exposure too.

That’s good to know: I don’t know Gorod as well as I should, and I picked this track pretty hastily

Hell yeah Snarky Puppy! And I’d never heard of Forq before, thanks for sharing. Always cracks me up to make those discoveries: we’re both here for metal, but also both enjoy upbeat modern jazz like that too

Aw Volbeat. Makes me think of Lola Montez, been a long time lol

Totally allowed! I’ll give that a shot, thanks for sharing

Yeah agreed, reminds me a bit of the voicemail intro to Archspire’s A.U.M.

Maaaaaan - this is what’s cool about the huge umbrella that is metal. It includes the stuff I always post on this community, yes, your JFAC, your Carnosus, relentless techy wankery. But it also includes beautiful operatic melodic metal like this. The guitar work makes me want to go explore the ruins of a temple, and the vocals make me want to soar above it. This is what Mods Are Drunk Friday is for, thanks for sharing

I can’t decide if this’d be better with Stu Block hair metal vocals, or unintelligible slam vocals, but I’m here for it either way

Yeah same here, I’m not too good at identifying tech/black/prog/melo/core elements, I just go for what sounds good. Hell yeah Esoteric Malacology, love Crop Killer. Tomb Mold is good too, but I know Planetary Clairvoyance better than The Enduring Spirit. The others are new to me, so I’ll check those out, thanks!

Nice! Yeah that’s true. I’m always down to explore though. What are some of your favorite blackened death releases? Maybe maybe I’ll queue up a Black[ened] Friday tomorrow
Choco617 6mo ago • 100%
Glad you like! Tbh I posted it just because everyone’s talking about this album, but it hasn’t really resonated with me. I’ll have to give it another shot

Iiiiiii have not listened to Nightwish in a decade or two, but I would love to revisit, thank you for resharing. Reminds me of how I used to use Dimmu Borgir - Sympozium as an alarm lmao

Ugh that’s really tough, they’re both solid. I agree about the slight edge to Moon Healer. It’s just hard to set aside how big a stylistic change Sun Water had been from previous releases, how much Jonny’s vocal range had expanded, etc. Felt really fresh at the time. But goddamn, Agony Seeping Storm…
