Not sure when things changed but all I know is that when I bought mine years ago the Kobo site redirected me to Walmart and that's where I had to buy it. My e-reader even displays the Walmart logo on it when I power it off.

Kobo was sold exclusively through Walmart in the US (at least when I bought my Kobo). I think they recently ended the partnership.

I've always felt that we support Israel for the same reason we support Ukraine. They're a friendly military force located in a region of the world where we have enemies. Ukraine helps counter Russia and the same for Israel during the Soviet Union era. Now Israel is a counter to Iran and various terrorist groups.

"It doesn't really replace proper journalism though"

Yeah, that's an even bigger problem that doesn't really have much of a solution. Things like Fediverse might allow for the distribution of news outside the control of corporations but it doesn't help in actually getting access to unbiased journalism.

That could have just been voyager though. They had replicator rations and a vegetable garden for saving power so it's possible that the fridge was something they did and wasn't a standard feature on other starships.

I would argue that science fiction and fantasy are the same thing and the only difference is the explanation for how all the cool stuff works.

Functionally, there's no real difference between a portal that takes the characters to another world using a wormhole and one that does it through through magic. Just like how there's no difference between Vulcans/Klingons/Wookies and Elves/Dwarves/Beastmen. Both are intelligent non-humans.

  • First time I hear about the Boox Palma, a phone-sized E-reader with Android and the Play Store, does anyone have it?
  • DharkStare DharkStare 2mo ago 100%

I don't know how relevant this is to you but I was looking at getting a Boox since it would easily let me read my Kindle and Kobo books on a single device without any hassle. However, it achieves this by running their apps so the books are segregated. There's no one library with all your books. Your Kindle books are only on the Kindle app, your Kobo books are only on the Kobo app, your library books are only on the Libby app.

It sounded really tedious to have to flip between a bunch of different apps to track all my books so I decided to just stick with Kobo.

Her quote never really felt that outrageous. She wasn't even calling all Trump supporters "deplorable". Here's her quote

“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.” She said the other half of Trump’s supporters “feel that the government has let them down” and are “desperate for change.” “Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well,” she said.

    Adagio Mystery Box

I ordered a mystery box from Adagio which finally came in and was surprised at what came in. I was expecting a collection of single cup samples but instead I got several of the larger bags that can make multiple cups each. This box contained: - April in Paris - .8oz - Blueberry Peach Gobbler Green - .5oz - Double Ginger Herbal - .8oz - Lemon Meringue Green - .5oz - Zodiac - aries tea - Single - Black Jasmine Song - Single - Tie Kuan Yin Black - .4oz Since they change what they put in the mystery box each month, I might just see how to setup a monthly auto-purchase.

I picked up some new teas from a shop while on vacation and this one was pretty good. I like teas with lavender in them but I find that it's sometimes overpowering. This one had the lavender taste without it overwhelming the other flavors. Edit: I tried to upload a picture but it wouldn't let me so I used a link to the one of the pictures on the site.

I just tried this tea and it was very good. I'm not a big fan of cherries but I have been drinking it almost every day and like it more than the Cinnamon Black Tea I bought at the same time.
