Its always interesting finding the same person in a comment section from another site. It feels kind of like an easter egg but one where you can get a new friend out of it.

I wasn't aware of that though reading it now I can see how it is implied in the title that it was a much bigger change than adding a clarification. Will have to avoid sharing from their channel in the future.

While it seems to be popular in the US a lot of Latin communities actually find latinx offensive from what I have heard. Btw I think the idea of the art framing the narrative as humans just trying to survive and protect each other against the climate crisis is something people should pay more attention to instead of living in fear of anyone who looks different or has a different culture to themselves.

https://12ft.io/https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2024/10/steam-now-reminds-you-that-it-really-sells-a-license-for-a-digital-product/ Here is an article with the paywall removed. I tried the internet archive but forgot it is read only at the moment. (Edit someone beat me to it by 7 hours.)

I haven't really seen anything posted on on beehaw about it though it might be we are not federated with the communities that posted it or I have been on at the wrong time to see it. Also thanks for pointing out that the change is a clarification going to add that to the title since it could clickbait people into thinking its a change with how steam operates. cheers.
TL:DW Steam has now changed its language from buy game to A purchase of a digital product grants a licence to the product on steam. This may also be non compliant with the new regulation as it still uses the word purchase. Also GOG used this opportunity to let you know their games come with an installer that they cannot take away from you.

Any company that can set aside $1 billion to cover the cost of breaking the law is obviously not getting taxed enough. Hopefully this causes the EU to fine them more.

All I really understood was it starts in the bottom right going up and changes direction whenever it reaches the end in a snake like pattern. I think from doing that but with every square being a hex/RGB pixel the amount of information that could be stored could be huge. The video also mentioned if you made a random pattern its likely it would mean nothing. Using some of the patterns that don't translate to anything and having them mean their own thing could add even more information. I might be getting ahead of myself but this could be useful for stuff like peertube storing videos using less storage and then decoding them. The main problem is I would need to find someone who knows how to make qr hexcode/hybrid a reality since I have no idea how I would go about it.

My week is going well, I was watching a Veritasium video about QR codes. About 20 minutes in he talks about some sort of complicated maths that I do not understand but the idea behind QR codes is cool. It actually got me thinking about how archive.org went down and how cool it would be to have a code that holds lots of information for preservation. I was thinking each square could represent a single character based on its hex colour once all characters are used other hex colours could be used to store combinations of characters. Idk how practical it would be but if the size of the .png/.webp size can get smaller than the size of the information stored it would be really useful for data preservation.

Its more not wanting to rely on new petroleum based plastic being produced reusing old cases or 3d printing a PLA based case is a way I can preserve dvds without having to buy new cases.

Iran is an oppressive regime though no sane person plays pinata with a Hornets nest and expects the Hornets to not retaliate. This is about Benjamin Netanyahu being a warlord while treating all Israels neighbors badly.

The lesson here is to download every single working nintendo emulator as a backup and share it with your friends. Emulation is legal after all even if the Nintendo mafia try to shut it down.

Nice I am looking into places that do 3d printing since 3d printers are expensive plus you need somewhere to store it and some of the models are really big. Though I might end up just looking for used dvd cases since I am planning on only using the printer to print cases for dvds. If any dvds no longer work I can always take the cover out and use for ones that still work.

I have been playing ps2 games via emulation and have been looking into 3d printing dvd cases so I can properly store all my dvds. I am also burning them into a backup so I don't have to plug in my external optical drive every time I want to watch a dvd. It is also better for preservation purposes. I am looking forword to your new social media platform especially if it part of the fediverse. I would love to join when its up.

Not to mention the E-waste and easily preventable deaths caused by not being able to dial emergency services. This is gross negligence at best and mass murder at worst.

I don't have a 3d printer though I will see if any public library has one I can use. Making it by hand instead of a 3d printer is something I have not seen done so it may not be practical.
I have a few dvds with some missing their cases and was wondering if anyone has tried making their own. The problem with a lot of tutorials is you already buy a basic case to modify that already have the push buttons. From searching online I have found them refereed to as push hubs and spider hubs though there doesn't seem to be a consistent name for them.
For example people consider ps2 retro but I always considered retro being in the 80s and earlier. No right or wrong answers it was just something I was curious about.
I recently decided to reinstall linux mint 21.3 Cinnamon to clean any extra packages I installed over time so I didnt have to manually look for and uninstall packages that I no longer use. Though when I tried to run lutris it would no longer run so instead of trying to get it to work I thought I would try pop os. First thing I noticed when installing Pop OS was the different layout. I was use to the linux mint layout since I went from windows to Mint. I never used Mac so this layout might seem normal for mac users. So far I have reinstalled Lutris and got lord of the rings the battle for middle earth 2 to run. This is part2 of my first post from a few months ago. [1 month of Linux Mint and some thoughts.](https://lemmy.world/post/15346911)
I have been getting into emulation though there is no emulation community here to talk about it. I assume emulation discussion in gaming is welcome any thoughts?
I have only been browsing here occasionally so I am not sure what all the new things happening here are. I did notice kbin.run is down so I am not sure what is going on with that.
This can also apply to peertube instances if you use that.
This seems like an odd question I know but I have been thinking there are probably so many theoretical hobbies that nobody has actually done before.
