On first impressions, putting ads beside an ad-free platform, and then charging to remove said ads comes across as borderline scummy. As for twenty fucking dollars, I'd rather pay that to my instance, cause if sync dies, there's a sea of apps to choose from. If my instance dies, I lose everything. Idk if there's regional pricing tho.

Not that I got to care. Couldn't bother when there's Infinity.

LXDE consumes the least amount of RAM of all major desktops in my experience. It beats even XFCE by a fair amount. Idle CPU usage is mostly the same though.

Cinnamon usually. LXDE if the machine's a potato.

The privacy factor indeed needs to be looked at more. I sought refuge in the Fediverse to prevent FB from getting enough data points to profile me down to the soul. I'm pretty sure a huge margin of users here came for the same. Federating with such a cancerous entity defeats the purpose of migrating to here to quite an extent.

I love the fact that on the two ocassions I decide that I should get a previous-gen console secondhand once the current-gen one becomes mainstream enough (PS3 being the previous one), I come to know of an emulator for it. What I love even more is that its the same person coming up with the emulator both times.

If you're a third world country with a dense population and the population overflow is coming from an even more densely populated country that seems to have no motive to control it, then it damn right should be illegal. I think this is desired. Lemme give my case. I think r/historymemes is absolutely flooded with racism, tankies and neo-nazis, and perhaps more than the rest, colonial apologia. Reddit being centralised, I can't create another r/historymemes.

Say we have a c/historymemes in some instance. The same racism and shit happens. No problem, I can look for a new c/historymemes on some other instance that is better moderated in regards to those problems.
