This. By the time you get it good (shouldn't be that long, bikes really are simple), you'll know exactly what you want for n+1...

  • What's that principle where you don't know you're asking the wrong question because you've got this idea in your head on how to do something, so you search frustratingly. If you could step up a level and find the right question, you'd find a well established, efficient solution. Related to unknown unknowns I guess, but I came across a phrase or word encapsulating it, and now I can't remember or (ironically) find it. ETA: It's [the XY Problem](https://xyproblem.info/), thanks Bophades@midwest.social.

Not sure, but it is still active with like 80 contributors. It's much the same as the original with a couple of extra features and more languages, so transition should be minimally painful, maybe even export - import level. I've been using it for years as I saw the original wasn't very active, but they're pretty much (essential) feature complete and stable, which is good. Apparently, google thinks that's bad.

  • Is there a way to use a vpn on one network card, and use a second network card for a regular connection?

It also exposes a proxy (and a tun), most things you want behind a vpn can use a proxy.

  • Can a Four-Year Degree in Any Hard Science Realistically Get You a Good Job?
  • MalReynolds MalReynolds 4d ago 100%

Bioinformatics may suit, especially if you go hard at understanding biochem. In fact all the Informatics (Medical, Chemical, Geo, ...) have good prospects, and at the very least will get you quickly past the bottom IT rungs and likely in interesting places. Mathematics (perhaps Computational) is surprisingly versatile and very much in demand if you can be creative about presenting yourself, you've proved you can handle some of the most complex shit out there.

But it's probably worth making a mini research project out of exploring your options, weeks spent now might be very rewarding long term.

Pretty sure it's in google services which you can turn on, personally think that waters down the point of Graphene if you leave that on, to the point of pointlessness, but some countries seem to live on whatsapp, more's the pity.

  • MalReynolds MalReynolds 4d ago 100%

For what seems to be your use case, it should be good or better (AMD helps) and everything you need is in the tin. There are a couple of gotchas, and the doco could be better if you're a dev, but if you're just gaming you'll be fine.

Try to avoid using rpm-ostree install (it's dog slow and slows updates, you're building an OS image after all) instead first try flatpak and then create a fedora distrobox (or arch or whatever, but fed is most in line with the base install) and dnf install from inside that (and then export to the main OS, keep it clean and it'll be stable).

ujust update rocks, but it updates automatically in the background (there's at least two OS images at all times, so in the unlikely event it breaks you just revert), so don't forget to reboot every now and then, weekly at least for security reasons.

Go here for questions, there's a discord too if you like that sort of thing. Have fun!

Seems very interesting, pr burble aside. Wonder how close this is to a micro-sonogram if generalised ? Star Trek medical tricorder component material by my reckoning.

I'm one of those oddballs who's never joined, but I'm in the market for a new to me bike, and it seems like all the action is on marketplace. Am I screwed, or is there an effective workaround ? Edit: Not US. There are local alternatives that I know about, but they are worse, please answer question as asked ! Basically I'm thinking of alternative software ala FreeTube, or a way of spoofing facebook to make a dummy account only to be used for this and if so what precautions to take...

Something I find fascinating is that being consistent (and trustworthy) is less effective than being 80/20% consistent (classical vs operant conditioning) at training dogs where there are contextual/environmental cues at play. It's personally counter-intuitive, but I've seen it work and am convinced (I attribute it to evolutionary mechanisms, my goto in biology). I'm wondering what other psychology as a science results have solid statistics behind them that I'm unaware of (I'm compsci with a physics/maths background, so it's probably most), and are interesting...

Here we are with a community celebrating art, some of us might like to archive it. But no, inevitably it's google 'owned' transcoded, WebP. I have an extension to re-encode back to an old format, but that's lossy-lossy transcoding, not good. I suspect it's a Lemmy thing, but what would it take to get non-lossy here?

How does this play for you ? I identify as spectrum, what used to be Asperger's, and have to work really hard to get to visual phantasia, but I can. Also worked hard to remove aural phantasia? via meditation because of negative self talk. Do you see 'aphant' as a useful designation? Thoughts, Ideas?
