Call me a pessimist but 5g is already stupid. I'm using a device that can already reach 4g lte speeds of 500 mbps using mobile data, and empty my entire data plan in less than 15 min if I were downloading a file at those speeds. Why do need speeds faster that gigabit on a device whose data plan won't allow anyone to benefit from this faster technology? I get that this might give each tower higher bandwidth and thus allow for higher bandwidth and bigger data caps, but I've had 5g for half a decade now and it seems like nothing has changed.

Horrible and unethical idea: We modify the mosquito to strongly prefer the blood of some specific animal species. Said species will then be raised in captivity only for it to be sacrificed to the mosquitos. This way they get to procreate and spread the modified gene to new generations, and keep them alive for the ecosystem to feed on.

When I was in school we had 1tb onedrive subscriptions provided by the school for about 3k people not including teachers. 150tb does seem quite small unless each student only gets 250gb or 500gb of storage

I've lived almost my entire life in Norway, and I don't think it's much easier than saying a date

I don't know if Denmark does it, but Norwegians love to use week numbers in corporate/education environments for scheduling instead of using dates like normal people, so you might end up in a situation where you have to check the calender to find out what date Monday week 42 might be.

I know this pain trying to model something in blender, applying some modifier like a bevel and it breaking the mesh. True pain
Hi, my 3d printer psu fan gave up the ghost, and I wanted to replace it. It was pretty noisy, so I thought about upgrading from a 30mm to an 80mm fan. I am designing the top case with mounting holes, and want some input on where to place the new fan. The original placement is the box with the red color. The green and blue box are some options I thought of for the new fan placement. Would placing it over the busier part of the pcb yield lower temps, or is that a bad idea? Does placement even matter for psu fans? The new fan has higher airflow, but lower static pressure than the original one, and the plan is for it to always spin at a low rpm and occasionally speed up when the psu detects a high temperature. The original config runs it completely fanless until the psu reaches 50c and only then does it send voltage to the fan header. ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fprotosparky.uk%2Fcdn%2Frtlhnmlr%2F1.jpg)

Hey y'all, today I experienced another push for Linux from our friend Microsoft. 5 minutes ago, I wanted to use the timer app on Windows, so I could manage my work/break schedule, and this fucker showed up. ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fprotosparky.uk%2Fcdn%2Frkgnketnktrdeg%2F1.jpg) Yes, that's a prompt to sign in with a Microsoft account to use the clock. If you close it, it pops up 30s later. Clicking “Don't sign in” or closing the process responsible for displaying it is useless, and guess what… IT PAUSES THE TIMER WHEN IT SHOWS UP. I guess this is another thing added to the super long list of things which will eventually make me switch my main workstation to Linux once win10 is discontinued. /endrant Hope y'all are having a great day :3

[High res image](https://protosparky.uk/cdn/astro2/1.jpg) [Original Post](https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/16197074) This time i set up my old dslr and a tripod for the shooting, and i shot 70 30s frames. It seems like there's a problem with sharpness, but im not sure if its because i lack a star tracker, the lens was slightly out of focus, or because of atmospheric wobble. Here's some behind the scene images: ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fprotosparky.uk%2Fcdn%2Fastro2%2F3.jpg) The camera is a nikon D5100, a low/midrange camera from almost 14 yeas ago mounted to a cheap tripod. The white box on top of said camera is the battery which i made from 2 old powerbanks because im a cheapass and couldnt be asked to buy a proper one :) I saw the nothern lights too! ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fprotosparky.uk%2Fcdn%2Fastro2%2F2.jpg)

I've tried posting an h264 mp4 file from a webserver i own, and I noticed that most clients fail to load or outright crash when trying to open the post. Some give an "invalid MIME type" error even though "video/mp4" is a valid one. Posting the link as a hyperlink works, but then you don't get a preview. So what's the best way to share video on lemmy? Is it youtube/imgur or am I doing something wrong?
I was going on a walk and chose to take some photos of my local air traffic control radar. Also found this buddy, but couldn't take a good picture as i was being eaten alive by mosquitos :) ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.blahaj.zone%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F1ee4b2f4-cb7e-427b-a85e-9244439d6d65.jpeg) Both photos were taken on an old Nikon D5100 and edited in adobe photoshop.
