In the meantime, while I understand may not be ideal for everyone, users who choose to participate on the beehaw instance will be required to register a separate account on their instance.

Might I also suggest alternatives such as lemmy.blahaj.zone which is open to anyone to register without explanation as long as, y'know, you're not an asshole. Though it sounds like beehaw might block them in the future given their stance, but for now they're federated.

I'm not an expert on this and probably completely wrong, but I think you have to search it first with !animemes@burggit.moe under communities - all. Then wait 30 minutes to an hour and it should appear normally when searching animemes. I just did that to cats about 30 minutes ago and now instead of 404 I get https://burggit.moe/c/cats@sh.itjust.works

I am biased in this situation, but I just think leaving it to the individual to block specific communities is better than blocking an entire instance for every user.
