One problem with it is that deleting a file in Syncthing may also delete it on other machines. And a backup solution will keep multiple versions of old files which can be lifesaving if you make a bad edit.

I think having a lot of questions is good actually. Even for signing up for a bilibili account, you have to answer a lot of questions to demonstrate that you understand certain things about the site. Compared to the amount of time that you are going to spend on the site, it's really not that much and it cuts down a lot on bad quality content. You can think of it as an alternative to the way that somethingawful makes you pay some money to join the site. It requires time instead of money, which is good because we're trying to cultivate an international and working class culture here.

If it's so important to "stop fascism" it makes sense to cheat or otherwise institute one party rule. What, are they going to win every election from here until the end of time? That's obviously not going to last long.

Space elevators are likely not feasible. Off-planet mining would probably be a better fit for autonomous robots as long as weight is a factor in sending things to space. Plus, you won't get people to space with a railgun.

As for the question of population maintenance, it's not necessarily a crisis in itself. One thing is for sure, though: any policy viewing women as docile broodmares or encouraging more pregnancy without a comprehensive and clear analysis of the whole situation and the input of educated women will not succeed. If any country can successfully encourage more births it would probably be a socialist one. The GDR had relatively good policies for its time, for example.

Getting large numbers of people into space will be prohibitive for a long time. It's more important right now to focus on the problems of the here and now. Build international socialism and improve habitability of the world.

  • Should we allow the newly created "politics unfiltered" community to continue posting reactionary electoralist nonsense from clickbait tabloids, or should we show them the door?

To me "unfiltered" and "celebrating the diversity of political thought" means "allowing fascism and fascism-adjacent speech." I go on this site precisely because we generally don't allow such nonsense to be posted. Filtering speech is a necessary part of creating a good community.

The #1 rule of Christianity is to love your neighbor as you love yourself. It's clear that many so-called Christians are not following this simple rule.

Bibi wouldn't do that because the US supplies the weapons for his war. Even he is probably not dumb enough to bite the hand that feeds him. The more likely scenario is that the US supports Israel using nukes and vetoes any actions the UN takes against them. "Israel has a right to defend itself" and all that nonsense.

Saw this on Twitter. It's mostly a good overview of the geopolitical forces around the Xinjiang situation and the folks egging it on in the US. The only thing I'd add is that Xinjiang is critical to land routes for the Belt and Road Initiative. Those railroads need to go through Xinjiang to get to Europe which is another reason why the US is so keen to destabilize the region.
