"Can't you read? Call for help!"
This year's NOBO start season is coming up! Anyone planning to thru hike this year? Section hike? SOBO? Flip? If so, do you have a blog so the rest of us can hike along vicariously?
Is there an official way to request a feature? All I can find is places to submit bug reports. It would be nice, on mobile, if the map would rotate when the phone is upside down (charging port on top). In rental cars, this is how I'll put my phone in, so I can plug it in and don't run out of battery while driving.

Only if you don't count all the cars made for the military.

I've only ever used them hiking, and then only in certain cases. Maybe I'll change my mind when I get older, but they seem unnecessary for me now.

Why not just raise prices 20% and stop adding stupid fees?
Interesting to see that someone has set "The Silmarillion" to music. Seems appropriate, after reading the first few pages of the Ainulindalë. [Link to a preview here](https://www.theonering.net/torwp/2023/06/27/116729-operatic-war-of-wrath-now-available-for-your-listening-pleasure/)
I subscribe to a few, but wondering what your favorite Tolkien YouTube channels or podcasts are.

Or even a plane. Let someone else monitor the autopilot for you.

My parents gave me the books shortly before the movies came out, likely because they were coming out. So the books then the movies for me.

It would be nice if CA passed a "right to roam" law that allowed one to cross any private land

I made one with an R-pi and hard drive with Open Media Vault. It was pretty easy to set up, and I haven't had any trouble with it. Only one disk so far, since I don't have that much stuff.

I always heard it called Mountain Money
6/19/2013 I climbed up Katahdin with my parents, who had driven me to Baxter, took all the required summit photos, then started walking south. Only went as far as the campground where the car was, but my thru hike had started. About 5 months later I stood on the summit of Springer Mountain.

I walk up hills. Much more efficient than running. Someone once told me if you can't see over the hill, you should walk it.

But will race walking help when you're going steeply up a trail?

I just accept that my shirts will smell after a while 🤷♂️

Doesn't look like that one is made anymore. Maybe someone on craigslist though...
Does anyone have a digital piano they'd recommend? I've been missing playing since I moved to my current place, and would like to get back into it. I'd rather spend a few extra bucks now and get a nice one that will last.

Seems to be a lot of bear activity right now.
Hopefully everyone on the trail is aware of this site already, but notices about the trail from the ATC can be found at https://appalachiantrail.org/trail-updates/

The impression I've gotten is that they haven't spared any expense, but we'll have to wait and see. I'm hopeful.
And for the absurd amount of money Amazon spent on season one, they could've done something useful instead, like end world hunger.

Yeah, Canada. I think it's blown away, I haven't seen it in the news in the past few days.
Anyone get stuck in the bad smoke while on the trail? Hopefully the AT doesn't become like the PCT and catch fire.
