The dedicated works space definetly makes a big difference in my productivity. My basement set up is kind of funny, reminds me of communal living from my early 20s lol. Right now I have 3 beds, 2 monitors, 1 chair, and a shelf with my clothes.

I like that musing on cloud atlas too. Though I find it's harder for me to embody a voice different from my own when writing in first person. I end up defaulting to myself rather than sticking with what works best for the story. It could be a fun writing exercise for this month though :) maybe a spooky series of journal entries.

Pcsx2 -- it works pretty well, the only game I've had trouble running was monster rancher 2

I think a resource like that would be good for artists as well as amateurs! Sometimes it can be so hard finding good reference photos or inspiration for ideas. Search engines often seem to show the same few images over and over.

& so true about some people wanting to gatekeep slrpnk as a whole based on their own personal ideas about it. I think it often happens as a small niche movement becomes more popular. It would be good to have something more open and inviting.

The idea of using the resource to try and bridge the gap between different sections of the movement is could have such a positive impact. We can widen the definition and grow the movement rather than giving into nitpicky infighting.

This month has been chaotic for me. I'm finally moved into my new house but am in the midst of quite a few projects. I'm currently living in my basement while I fix and refinish the wood floors on the main floor. This sadly means I haven't gotten to set up my new office space :( though i did rip out a closet and replace some rotten boards in the room that will become my office.

I have gotten some writing done, though it hasn't been a particularly productive month. Most of what I've written has just been journal entries and a few short essays. It's not anything super great, but it does keep me in the writing mindset & keeps the words flowing.

This month my goal is to at least continue writing little things. Story ideas, journaling, commentary essays, stuff like that. Maybe adding to my longer story in little chunks. I also have a few grant proposals I will need to write.

As a streach goal, I hope to have my floors finished so I can at least move all my office stuff into the space it goes. It would also be nice to get another chapter of my book drafted.

Mostly, I'm just trying to keep in mind that any progress is progress. As long as I'm writing something, I'm on the right track.

Super good point! Also I don't know if you saw, but we've been doing the writing club in this community. I think there are 3 or 4 of us who have been consistently checking in, but we have had a few people chime in just for the month. I can link to it if you haven't already seen those posts.

So far it has luckily been a very positive and motivational space :) no one getting weird and nitpicky, mostly just encouraging eachother to keep up with writing

I do love games that are essentially just building simulators. For example, I love playing sims 4 exclusively to build and decorate. I mostly found tiny glade lacking in options and customization. Maybe they'll expand and refine it though & in a few years I can try the game out again :)

Tiny glade was interesting. I only played the demo, & it was enjoyable for a half hour or so, but I kind of ran through everything & it didn't seem like there was enough content to justify buying the full game or playing more.

I also felt like there wasn't enough ability to customize different aspects, like I could place flowers but couldn't choose how they're arranged within that space.

Did you play the full release or just the demo?

I've been playing a bunch of SSX tricky. It's super old, but I absolutly love it even 20 years later. I've been playing on the PC using a ps2 emulator.

I've also been playing simpsons hit and run which really holds up. It's a simpsons version of grand theft auto & it's just fun. It's another emulated ps2 game.

Lastly I've been playing survival fountain of youth. It's a fairly recent release. You play as a shipwrecked Spaniard looking for the fountain of youth. I enjoy the base building & exploration -- the story line is fiiine but nothing special.

Yeah the professional is a straight up endorsement of pedophilia 🤢 luckly i never liked that one to begin with, so it wasn't much of a loss to avoid it lol

Its maiwenn that I was refering to. They met when she was 12 and formed a relationship & maiwenn openly talks about how their relationship was part of the inspiration for the movie "the professional" -- which is a movie that celebrates the sexualization of the child lead & characterizes the child as the instigator of the romantic relationship. The original script was apperently even more transparent about it's endorsement of pedophilia and had to be reigned in during production.

Meiwenn has very openly talked about their relationship in interviews & many of the films she has directed incorporate autobiographical aspects. She does not see any problem with her marriage to luc besson and thus freely admits to things. I'm remembering reading an interview where she talked about how they knew eachother for about a year before she really fell in love with him and they began dating, which puts her at 13 (12 plus a year of knowing each other). I think it also referenced that they met because he was a friend of her parents, though I'm having a hard time finding that interview right now.

My personal opinion is that they got married after she was already pregnant & had likely been intimate for years prior to the marriage at 16. I think the story that he waited until she was 15 comes from the international push back they received after luc became famous and people found out about the relationship.

I did a deep dive on this when I was in the hospital last year & happened to watch the fifth element lol. I noticed on the wiki that he was married at different times to two of the stars & then spent like 3 days reading everything i could find on him and his overly young exs.

I has this happen with the fifth element. I found out Luc Besson is a pedophile who has gotten multiple young girls pregnant. Including a 15 year old he started seeing when she was 13, who he left when she turned 21. The movie is so different knowing about him and his views & it really changes how i watch the movie. Its no longer a fun feel good movie for me. Especially because two of his young wives star in the film.
