Assuming they upload their base, you can visit it without them being online. If they are online you can visit their bases that aren't uploaded.
Yes, you can encounter people outside of the Anomaly, assuming you have Multiplayer enabled.
I've converted a system in Euclid into a Stasis Device factory. I've built a base on every planet with a local Mineral, Gas, and Flora. Each base has Refiners and access to Storage. Feel free to stop by if you're low on Units. Remember to turn off Multiplayer before emptying the Supply Depots. ``` | Base | Mineral | Gas | Flora | ------------------------------------------------------ | Alpha | Paraffinium | Nitrogen | Star Bulb | | Beta | Dioxite | Radon | Frost Crystal | | Gamma | Phosphorus | Sulphurine | Solar Vine | | Delta | Cobalt | Oxygen | Echinocactus | | Epsilon | Uranium | Oxygen | Gamma Weed | | Zeta | Copper | Oxygen | Gutrot Flower | ```

When you start a new save, there are different game types you can choose like Creative, Suvival, and Expedition. They each have their own rules and settings. In this case when I say Normal, I mean the default game type and specifically not an Expedition.

I've literally killed around 3 dozen. Nothing so far. I just wish I knew I wasn't wasting my time.
jeff_rose 3mo ago • 100%
Yeah, you crush the juicy grub and it makes the Vile Queen attack. Supposedly the queen drops the different helms but I have killed SO many and gotten nothing with my expedition save.
Has anyone still in the Liquidator Expedition managed to get one of the new insect helmets by killing a Vile Queen? I've seen people on YouTube do it with Normal saves, but I am wondering the Expedition saves are bugged (pun intended). I've been farming for a while and gotten nothing. Maybe I'm just unlucky. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That sucks. I've checked multiple bases across my saves, and somehow none of them were impacted. I expected at least a couple of them to be trashed because I tend to build along the terrain and into caves. While surfaces features of the planets changed, the terrain itself seemed to stay the same.
I'm not holding my breath though. Worlds Part 2 is coming eventually and there's no telling what will happen.

I don't know of guide, but off the top of my head...
::: spoiler Quest List Complete the Artemis Storyline (That is a requirement to trigger other quests).
Jumping between systems will eventually trigger...
- A freighter rescue mission, which gets you a freighter
- Dreams of the Deep
- The Settlers, which gets you a settlement
- Under a Rebel Star
- A Trace of Metal once you complete the Artemis Storyline and The Settlers
- They Who Returned once you complete the Artemis Storyline and have visited a Harmonic Camp
Buying a Void Egg will trigger the Starbirth quest Sending frigates on expeditions will eventually get you the Dream Aerial plans :::
Many of these quests result in rewards like ships, appearance modifications, companions, etc.

I've seen both happen in previous updates, so I don't know what the intention was with this particular update.
jeff_rose 3mo ago • 100%
Honestly, I am not seeing a big difference so far. I loaded my various saves and checked to see if any of my bases were affected, but didn't see much of a change. Yes, clouds and water are better looking, and some planets had some new terrain features, but nothing major. I wonder if they limited the impacts to existing inhabited planets?
jeff_rose 3mo ago • 100%
Yes, there have been broad and focused terrain generation changes in previous updates that have wiped out bases, especially if they're built in a cave or follow the existing terrain.
Quite often you just find out the hard way... You teleport in only to find yourself hovering in the sky or embedded in the ground. 😅
jeff_rose 3mo ago • 100%
I am never going to complain about a NMS update, but if it's planet generation overhaul, you had better take pictures of your favorite bases now.

You can find it at -22.81, +111.53. I have a Communications Station there as well.
Did you keep playing once you completed the Omega Expedition? I decided to build out my base on Nash 33/W4. It has an S-Class Sodium mine and all of the crops except NipNip. It is mostly built with stone with some prefab structures. I actually hit the base part limit and had to back off so it could still be uploaded. It's built into the nearby landscape... ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.world%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2Fda736dcf-8962-4dba-9cff-cc6bc54459f2.jpeg) ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.world%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2Fa4841b97-1f06-4c67-9f18-3bbefdb414cc.jpeg) A portion of the base is under ground but I did not use the Terrain Manipulator so I don't have to worry about it filling in later... ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.world%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F83e900f2-e3cc-4712-ad4b-b3863eda77ef.jpeg) It sits across from a crashed freighter... ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.world%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F37346681-4568-4cde-aa8d-f18b46bcf81e.jpeg) Now, I will probably take a break for a little bit until the next major update.

It looks like the expedition is finally over since the last optional milestone was reached; however when I go to collect the rewards and officially end the expedition, the game locks up. My character just stands there and the controls have no effect. Hopefully they get that fixed soon.
jeff_rose 8mo ago • 100%
I ended up building out a base on Nash 33/W4 because I came across an S-Class Sodium spot and I liked the nearby cave system.
It's adjacent to a crashed freighter as well.
I'll keep expanding on it while I wait for the expedition to end so I can complete the main quests.
jeff_rose 8mo ago • 100%
Yeah, technically it's not over for me either. I just started doing end game tasks like collecting portal glyphs, farming for a freighter, etc.
jeff_rose 8mo ago • 100%
I finished today as well. Overall, I thought it was fine. It's clear it was meant to show new players different parts of the game. I was actually glad it was so succinct without much grinding. Almost everything you need was within the confines of the expedition, either as a reward or available somewhere along the path.
While I always like the cosmetic rewards, it annoys me that the colors and textures never quite match the existing customizations. I wish they would go back and make everything a little more consistent.
I often keep playing my expedition saves and get them into an end-game state. I haven't decided if I will this time.
I decided to start a new save and forgo the new expedition feature in the Anomaly. I feel like part of the fun is starting from scratch and finding shortcuts to get units, complete milestones, etc. Plus I often play my expedition saves even after the expedition is over. I made it to Phase 3 before I quit playing today. Overall I like the expedition. Nothing has been particularly annoying but I guess that could change in the next phases. How's it going for everyone else?
jeff_rose 8mo ago • 100%
Unfortunately I think there's a decent chance this will be the last major update or Expedition as they shift their focus to Light No Fire. I hope that's not the case.
jeff_rose 8mo ago • 100%
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I'll probably give LNF a shot. I don't know if it will be as compelling as NMS.
I've been playing NMS for a long time so I'm no stranger to updates destroying my bases, but I'm used to it happening during major updates. This came out of no where. I haven't played since the last major Update and Expedition, but I thought I would log in to check on things before the next Update and Expedition were announced. I did not expect to find one of my cave bases in disarray. ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.world%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2Fab584800-1179-48ad-881a-ec90c58475c1.jpeg) Before you ask, no, I didn't use the terrain manipulator, I simply built the base into an existing cave and along the mountainside. Other bases I've checked seem fine so I'm not sure why this one was impacted. Did this happen to anyone else or am I just lucky?
