Was das mittige Fahren angeht, werden die wenigsten das Gerichtsurteil kennen, auf der anderen Seite liest man eher sowas wie:

Fahren auf der Fahrbahn (§ 2 Abs. 1 und 2 StVO) Wenn kein beschilderter Radweg vorhanden ist, dürfen Radfahrende die Fahrbahn benutzen. Dort gilt, wie sonst auch, das Rechtsfahrgebot. Radfahrende müssen „möglichst weit rechts“ am Fahrbahnrand fahren. Aber wie weit rechts ist das? Durch den Rinnstein, wo sich Schmutz und Scherben sammeln? Oder dicht an parkenden Autos vorbei, deren Türen sich plötzlich öffnen können? Besser nicht! Etwa eine Autotürbreite Abstand (mehr als 1 Meter) kann bei parkenden Autos angemessen sein, sonst etwas weniger (0,80 m). Ge- meint ist dabei immer der Abstand vom Lenkerende.

Zum Anderen macht es doch einen Unterschied, ob ein Autofahrer drängelt, wenn man im Auto oder auf'm Rad sitzt. Das Kräfteverhältnis ist da halt nicht vergleichbar.

Ja, die sind widersinning, aber es gibt sie. Und nicht jeder hat auf dem Rad die Selbstsicherheit, auch bei nicht ganz hohen Geschwindigkeiten mittig auf dem Fahrstreifen zu fahren (und selbst wenn man diese hat, kann's stressig sein, und man fährt am Ende automatisch weiter rechts). Von daher, die "Unachtsamkeit" auf beiden Seiten sehe ich jetzt nicht als Äquivalent an.

Naja, aber wann ist "neutral" wirklich "neutral" ? Bei 'nem Dooring-Unfall ist's ja meistens ein Autoinsasse, der unachtsam eine Autotür öffnet, und das Radfahry keine Zeit zum Reagieren hat ... trotzdem heisst es dann "Radfahrer fährt in Tür", und das wäre dieser Logik nach "neutral", beschreibt aber das Problem (unachtsame Autoinsassen) überhaupt nicht ... rechtlich sicher, aber im Gesamtkontext unfair ...

Der Klassiker, der hier gar nicht erwähnt wird, ist ja "Radfahrer rast in Autotür" ... da muss der Radfahrer ja selbst schuld sein, wenn er so schnell ist, und die Tür, die war halt einfach da .... /s

That being said, I think there's more factors to it. Keep in mind that most German cities were in ruins after WWII, and plenty of buildings have been demolished to make room for cars.

The difference in electoral systems might play a role, where a green party could slowly, but steadily gain influence.

Railway infrastructure was already quite dense before mass motorization.

A lot of money has been spend to get through traffic out of town centers.

So, if the only thing you're looking for is a video hosting solution, then, yes, PeerTube might be an alternative. In the same way uploading videos to your own webspace would be, and Vimeo also still exists.

But for all the other stuff, YT is, unfortunately, unmatched, and probably will be for a while ...

For whatever reason, many of the editors mentioned here never worked for me ... like OpenShot, ShotCut or PiTiVi were really unstable the last time I tried (might be a distro or DE thing). Also I found it hard to cut precisely when they worked. Lightworks, Da Vinci, Cinelerra, I had a hard time getting them to run. Maybe that changed in the meantime.

I ultimately stuck with Kdenlive, which is stable enough and allows for reasonably precise cutting.

Well, it says to use a toroidal transformer between 12V to 32V output, and looking at pictures of other people who bought it, it seems to work on AC directly, so I have high confidence that that's what it is.
