left anti communists having a normal one about angela davis
  • su25 su25 10mo ago 100%

the possibly white reddit leftcoms here acting like they know more than angela davis is hilarious.

Her work on prisons is lauded but she failed to apply her own principles consistently with regards to USSR.

do you think davis put pen to paper to write some of the best existing theory out there on prison abolition and then just suddenly forgot all of it when it came to the USSR? i wonder what she thinks about a bunch of redditors basically saying they know her own theory better than herself.

Where did the chop-chop trope come from?
  • su25 su25 10mo ago 100%

well surgery to modify genitalia or chest tissue can be a part of transitioning. its not a misconception, it's just described by transphobes in a way that makes it sound more repulsive than any other medical procedure. it's important to note that trans people are not the only ones who receive gender affirming surgeries, any cis woman you know who has received breast implants or cis man who has received penis enlargement surgery have both undergone types of gender affirming surgery. but for trans people, its just a way that some choose to transition.

how it works depends on what kind of procedure, but the most common categories are "top" and "bottom" surgery (top of your body, bottom of your body, not the kind of top and bottom you might be thinking of lol). for trans men, operations to remove chest tissue and operations to create a penis from existing tissue (phalloplasty) are the most common. for trans women, operations to add breast implants and to modify a penis into a vagina (vaginoplasty) are the most common. some trans women also get facial feminization surgery, such as a tracheal shave which cuts down the adams apple to make it not visible.

this research shows that gender affirming surgery is more common for trans men (around half of those studied in the linked paper), whereas for trans women it was around 28%. i think these statistics are pretty accurate in my own experience, i frequently meet more other trans women who haven't had any operations than those who have (i myself don't want to have any and know a lot who feel the same).

  • su25 su25 10mo ago 100%

a lot of these shelters will also prohibit substances on the premises and not all of them involve treatment programs, so if you are addicted to a substance (usually fentanyl right now), you'd have to go cold turkey just for housing. you're expected to get clean on the street and then get housing.

the game is horrible copaganda and the community is exactly what you'd expect. some of the most popular ready or not gameplay videos i've seen involve the player exercising extreme brutality to unarmed civilians. the digital civilians will submit willingly and then the player will just go up and pepper spray them, or sometimes just shoot them because that's funny right?

discussion on whether it actually works or not aside, i thought we've kinda agreed that ethically its wrong to treat neurodivergence as a disease to be cured. it's a cool scientific innovation, if only in mice, but i'm hoping that the chinese state and party spend more time deliberating the ethical question of this technology.

what has hamas done that israel hasn't done but in larger quantities? by most definitions, most western governments including israel can be counted as terrorist organizations. israel, the us, etc. have frequently committed unlawful (numerous violations of international law) acts of violence towards civilians for political/economic motivations. but this label is only applied to a national liberation movement. do you ever wonder why this is?

well it's not certain how many leftists TRULY support them. what people say cannot be taken as accurate because anything remotely close to supporting "terrorism" can ruin your life or even land you in prison. so there's no telling how many leftists are just putting up that facade because of the potential for government repression.

mix of good and bad. i've been having some successes recently in the romantic realm, i've got some dates planned which has definitely provided some source of joy in my life. but overall, i haven't been sleeping at all the last few days and recent events have been making me so increasingly hateful and angry at the evil capitalist system that it genuinely brings me down all day. the days are blurring into one and everywhere i go i feel enraged.
