What about stopping the bullsh*t of TLD nonsense and doing something like crates.rust-lang.org? It's the most sensible solution.

The Hyperloop still hasn't happened in an age where we can grab rockets from the sky.

It was just a great idea to stop development of high-speed rail so cars could still make sense for longer.

Hopefully USA seems to be realising already: https://techcrunch.com/2023/12/22/hyperloop-one-elon-musk-high-speed-rail/

You liked the movie, so, can you tell me what is the point of the movie?

::: spoiler spoilers Because, IMO, the Joker was concieved in the first movie as not capable enough to be a character that could have any impact or evolution aside from doing random shit. Which is literally what he does in both movies: complaining and random shit.

Lawyers are shown doing lawyer things.

Then, Harley comes in, and she's obsessed. She's a psychiatrist too. Okay, so maybe there's something interesting in there... We can explore her story, why would she be obsessed with him... She lied! Okay, that is a conflict, I wonder how will it resolve... Oh, no, that's it. No story for you. She disappears literally like a boolean character. On/off. Okay. But she's Lady Gaga so let's make it a musical.

Also, police bad, it seems there's also no story there.

Then the director realises he created an impossible character, so he kills it with another nonsensical scene and calls it CINEMA. :::

    I don't know... I can't defend this movie.

Yep, Joker 2 is terrible, IMO But, IMO, it already showed signs of no purpose in the first movie.

Good cinematography means nothing if the movie is empty. And the first one already made me feel like they were trying to sell me a concept that was impossible.

The second one doesn't even have a concept. It just has depressing musical numbers. Any possibility of a good storyline is dumped so they can show more memeable joker reels.

So, to me, a terrible rating is completely justified.

What is up with all of you people complaining about chargers not included? Don't you already have like 3000 at home?

It is one of the few decisions that Apple did that were completely right.

Also the complaint about "price was still the same without the charger" is useless, they've increased prices forever, it's not about the charger.

    Move on, people.

Edit: some grammar, and also some disagreements without actual answers. I'd really like to know why you'd get angry at less trash in the world.

But Wayland is waaay better than X in basically everything? Performance and security are simply in another league entirely. And these 2 are the most important factors.

The rest of the "features" will be eventually there. In fact, mostly are there already. I've been using Wayland 2 years without issues. The important thing is that now the sofware is solid, the code is clean and the performance is amazing. Growing from there will be so much better than from X11.

When I read about Overture Maps like a year or 2 ago, it seemed to me that basically they were going to create a whole new thing from scratch. Let's be honest, with enough resources, it's easy to see that they could pull off some kind of OpenStreetMap 2.0, where all the issues from OSM are modernised and cleaned up. What's really going on? Are we getting something soon from these people? What's the relationship with them? [On their website](https://overturemaps.org/), they say "coming this fall". Are you excited? Scared? What should I think?

So, what I want to do is basically to be able to publish some of my own IR remotes at home to some public database, very probably [IRDB](https://github.com/probonopd/irdb). Of course I'd also be using the device for automations and so on, which I know it works great at that. But my main goal is to make it possible for people to _not_ have to buy a stupid remote for some old hardware they have. From the [docs](https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/broadlink/#learning-commands), it seems like it is possible. Do you have any experience on this?

Every time I mention that I like Huberman's podcasts, I get bombarded with comments on how he's basically a fool, a liar, yadayada. And when I read every link, trying to see if maybe I should ditch his podcasts... all I see is, at most, in very specific cases, that some scientists defend different theories. Like... wow. Science in a nutshell. That is specially funny once you actually listen to his podcasts, because he is constantly reminding people that his words are not the literal truth, that he is no cop, and that he is simply collecting some evidence and always asking for people to go research this information, consult their doctor/physician/professional... Joe Rogan has like a 1000 clips that can give you absolute clues on how this guy is... well... not great. And my guess is that people are associating a big muscular man with another? Has the podcast claimed that the white male is a superior species or what am I missing? Come on, what kind of dark agenda does a guy like Huberman have when basically everything that he says can be condensed into: - get good sleep - do sport - eat well - go outside ? Another thing I've seen is many articles pointing out his "bad romances" and other weird personal life details, as if that mattered somehow?

I find the only app in F-droid very lacking, and the couple I tested from the PlayStore lacked many of the _technically_ available controls you can see on IRDB, Global Cache, JP1, etc. I am seriously surprised there is no open source Android IR remote app that can truly put everything to shame, given that the info is out there. I may contact a friend of mine for a new Android app...

The use case is basically so that all my family members we can check that "John has an old laptop collecting dust" or "Mary has this specific tool that I'd love to use for my current project". It would be awesome if you could also have a private inventory, aside from the "shared knowledge". So, what do you guys use for this? Maybe it does not have to be self hosted, but I have a sense the best solutions for this use case are.

[The OnePlus Watch 2 has 2 chips, and basically runs a lightweight OS while keeping the hungry one in very very low power, and only powering it up when necessary](https://www.oneplus.com/global/oneplus-watch-2). I was thinking that maybe such idea could be applied on a Linux phone that could run all your banking apps without Waydroid's "you-must-be-a-hacker" issues, literally by having a half-asleep Android running on another chip, which you can wake up whenever to do your "non-hacker" things, while at the same time you can run the rest of your system (calls, messaging, calculator, calendar, browser...) on your lightweight, private and personalized Linux mobile OS. I think I would pay big bucks for something like this, and it could serve as a transition device for ditching Android in the future when Tux finally governs over the world. What do you guys think?

I was not a podcast guy at all, but I stumbled upon Andrew Huberman a few months ago and wow, what an amazing source of information and it has helped me a lot while making conmutes and training sessions a lot less wasteful. The thing is that, now that I basically have consumed all their catalogue, I feel the need for more. I am very interested in science, backed-up self-improvement, open source stuff, and... Maybe, if it's really well done I could enjoy some politics. I mostly like to get informed and to grow. I have other sources for entertainment.

I followed [this video](https://youtu.be/AK5E2T5tWyM) to make my Home Asssistant accessible from everywhere, and yeah, port 8123 is fully clear to me, I've done it, it works great. But he also talks about port 443, and when he sets it up in the router instead of choosing 443 on both WAN and LAN he goes for 443 to 8123. Why? And which one is the WAN and the LAN one? His router config has completely different names to mine, and as you can tell I am quite a noob at this.

This problem existed too in Plasma 5, but I was so excited that after the update to 6, there finally was a toggle for some kind of "don't ask about this again for this device" but it seems to do nothing.
