I let him continue his existential dread for a couple more minutes until he decided he had enough and walked off. Not before decided to rub tons of dirt and god knows what into his fur.

In would look into old workstations with decent grapchis cards.

They are super sturdy, so toddler proof, reliable, usually have good repairability and upgradability and can be found cheap. I'll let someone else fill you in on what specs you want since that's a long note.

The state I live in, they are also illegal to expire. The problem is that companies blatantly break the law with zero consequences.

If you try to use an expired card, it will automatically decline, and an employee physically cannot override it. To use your money you have to go online and submit a complaint/ticket to customer support. Good fucking luck getting a response.

The only way after that is to threaten to sue, or sue. Sueing can cost thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars, which is completely ridiculous and why nobody does it. Thats why even though many states outlaw expiring giftcards, most of them still have expiration dates in blatant violation.

In every policy change there will be losers and winners, lowering the cost of housing has been a long time coming. So long in fact people assume it's a great way to invest and raise money.

I feel like at that point you just invite them to dinner/massage/etc. Much better way to bond anyway. Plus if someone is rare to prioritize fun, a bunch of gift cards to random ass places like rpg quests is stressful for those on an already tight schedule.

Having a bunch of gift cards you know you HAVE to use is stressful!

I've heard that too, but employees can't override rejection of expired cards, so to use your rightfully owned cash, you have to fight with the company via online customer service and maybe even threaten to sue.

Because of that, even in countries and states where cards don't expire, they essentially do.

  • Utterly stupid little things, its money that is less useful in EVERY situation and expires! Even at the store where you can use it, what do you do with the money that's leftover but too little to spend? Especially at expensive places, you could very well end up with 10-20$ OF YOUR OWN MONEY, that you can't even use! I was given a dunkin giftcard for volunteering at a repair cafe. First of all I'm on a diet but secondly I stuffed it in my wallet so quickly I completely forgot about it. The day I remember and go through the trouble of attending such a wretched establishment I was told it expired after I finished giving my order! After such bother to try to use this cursed thing I refuse to return fruitless from my endeavors so I paid with my own cash. It is now, sulking into my hashbrowns and Boston cream do I realize I am now poorer, fatter and fucking miserable. FUCK gift cards.

This is probably a hot take but I have the opinion that nature isn't any more merciful than we are. Existence is suffering and every animal ends up as feed for another.

Is it better to be raised in horrid conditions in a farm, or to spend every moment of your life scavenging for food, running for your life, while probably infested with parasites just to be torn to pieces, alive, by a wolf or other predator?

Humans at least have the decency to sedate or knock unconscious our food. Wild animals have to experience being eaten alive.

Yeah exactly, people arguing whether dragon fruit or some shit is a "super food". The super food is right in front of us, potatoes (and onions).

What other food has been so vital to our survival that its disappearance could ravage a population (Irish potato famine)

No offense to dragon fruit, blue berries or whatever exotic fruit, but if they went extinct, not that much could change.

Thats why I feel so bad for that poster recently that said ai was the only friend he had and liked. He never understood what a friendship is. They aren't just yes-men that approve of every single decision and beliefs. Their individuality and unique opinions keep your judgment clear and offer you different perspectives on matters.

I feel like instead of a giant push for veganism, there should just be a push to eat what's sustainable.

Beef and dairy? Causes huge amount of greenhouse gasses and with current methods of production, it is not sustainable

Blue fin tuna? These things have been way over fished and are endangered. Not sustainable, just try it once and move one with your life.

Tilapia ? These things grow like weeds and can be fed efficiently. Go ahead, good source of protein for your diet.

    Honey? We need bees and they are an important pollinator for crops. Go nuts (just watch your sugar intake}

Almonds? Takes huge amounts of water to grow and exacerbates droughts in the areas they are farmed. Eat less of these.

Potatoes? Grow stupid easily in all sorts of conditions. Go nuts.

  • I have many interests, if not too many. From cooking, woodwork and computers. Many of my friends are academically very successful but are frankly painfully boring and I sometimes feel isolated around them. I like to cook when they hang at my house, I'll try to teach them how, some basic tips, etc. As soon as I glanced towards them again I realized they walked off. This summarizes a lot of our interactions. As we get to a topic I understand and can speak passionately about, they sort of turn off. They talk to each other fine, but it's often internet drama, school drama or sports. I'm not in college\classes and it seems almost impossible to meet others, especially others that are interesting and curious. I find myself bonding most to adults but it's isolating I can't find others my age.

Is there ever something that happened to a family member that you will ever know? Has anyone gone missing under mysterious circumstances? Is the place next to your great grandmother's friend's dad's house totally haunted?

I think that if an outright war is raging in the comments, let it run it's course. All parties are willing participants, free to disengage at any moment. The exceptions should be when illegal content is being shared or illegal activity is occurring (CP, doxxing, etc). It's always frustrating when a juicy argument gets locked because it's "unproductive". I was having a great time watching it unfold, both sides hurling both creative and uncreative insults, oblivious to how low they are sinking to. It's great!
