Maybe people actually are constantly crying around him?? ...Maybe their eyes can't help but water up because of his reportedly horrible body odor.

Trump's relationship with Project 2025 is giving Austin Power's "that's not my penis pump" scene vibes, but much less amusing.
The unfortunate thing is that I can attest to this whole charade is at least working on some conservatives (ie my dad) who has earnestly told me that Trump said he's not involved in 2025 and that he won't implement abortion restrictions at the federal level. So it's all okay!!!! And how that means that I should vote for Trump now....as if that was the one singular problem I have with the perpetual lying cheeto.

I was totally unfamiliar with him before the trade, but after watching some highlights I am excited about what he can bring to the team! I liked Brogdon as a veteran mentor for our guards, but Avdija looks like great addition to the young core.

I feel like Harry Potter became mainstream/popular in my area roughly around the release of the third book. Or at least that's when I remember becoming aware of the series. I was in elementary school and attended a small non-denominational christian school. It kind of just depended on the families, some were fine with it, like mine was. My mom read the first book to my younger brother and I as part of our nightly reading together. It was just emphasized that this was a fun fictional story and not real. There were other families who didn't like the concept of magic but were otherwise ambivalent, and of course some were convinced it was all a ploy by satan trying to convert children to witchcraft. The details are all pretty fuzzy, but I think the stances generally tended to follow the denomination of the family, but not always.

Oh dang announcers said Scoot will not return because of an ankle sprain. :/

It's a small sample size, but from what I saw in pre-season, the Henderson/Ayton connection excites me. Looking forward to seeing how that develops in the regular season.

Alright LETS GO! The Blazer's youth movement starts here!
Can't help but wonder how Lillard joining the Bucks factored into Stotts decision.

YES! I found this community because I was looking for where discussions about it on Lemmy might be. (Other Lemmy community suggestions are very welcome). The time zone difference does complicate things, so I probably won't catch many of the games in the time slot that is latest for me. There's still plenty of great matches to watch beside those though.

Yeah Herro is a good player, but as a major core asset in the return for Lillard, he doesn't strike me as a great value for the Blazers when they already have a guard rotation of Ant, Sharpe, and Scoot in a post-Lillard roster. Obviously getting a third team involved is an option, but the theoretical trade options I've seen floated around this scenario still seem light compared to other potential trade packages from other teams. I hope there is a solution where the Blazers are able to do right by Dame AND get a good return. Seems like a pipe dream at the moment.

Lifelong Blazers fan- obviously bummed about Dame requesting a trade, but his position at this point is understandable. It does surprise me how he's handling it though. Sure there's going to be lots of chatter and smokescreens (and maybe this news is part of it), but is he really so shocked that there's teams other than Miami putting in trade offers to aquire a player of his caliber? Not saying the Blazers should totally ignore his wishes but this type of ultimatum of "Miami or bust" puts Portland between a rock and a hard spot.

Glad to hear this! Who knows how the roster might look in a post-Dame-trade situation, but even if we go full youth movement having a smart defender like Matisse is great. Maybe help cultivate some defensive identity as a team.

In terms of sheer hours of use, buying the ad-free version of the app 10 or 11 years ago now was probably the best value purchase I've ever made. RIP BaconReader, it's been a wonderful journey. :(

As it stands now, Beehaw has defederated from LemmyWorld, so interacting with their news community through this instance means we don't actually see the majority of the comments and posts. LemmyWorld users can still post and comment, but that content doesn't get federated to other, non-blocked instances because its only a copy of the "real" community. Fully admit though that I'm still learning Lemmy, so if my understanding of this is incorrect please correct me!
Personally, I would like like to see this news community grow. News is a general and broad enough topic that I think as Lemmy continues to grow, it can support multiple news focused communities. Even if the Beehaw news community continues to be considered "the" news community, there's room for additional options.

That's true, but I'll gladly take this impediment as a victory. My level of trust in this current Supreme Court, means that I'm pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Had the ruling gone the other way, it would have made the 2024 election such a absolute clown show. Although it probably still will be, only just less so.
Welcome to Rip City Scoot!

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am, at how hard spez tried multiple times to push his spin about reddit was subsidizing "competitors" for so many years, so this is only fair! :'< The entire interview just comes across as defensive, cranky, and snide.
I got the vibe that his belief is that the users of 3PAs have somehow "betrayed" reddit by having the audacity to not use the official app. Then saying that 3PAs don't bring anything of value to reddit, reeks of jealousy. I started using BaconReader long before there was a official app. I can guarantee that reddit would not have become as habitual for me if not for those apps, and I'd guess that's the case for others here too. I was really hopeful the blackout would encourage reddit to work out some compromise so then I could enjoy going back to the site. The more of these comments I hear though the less appealing re-joining reddit seems.

Hey I don't want this to come across as nit-picky, but the community icon looks super squished in certain contexts for me. Is anyone else having that issue? Example.
I wonder if just using just the pinwheel itself would work better? Here's cropped a version of the pinwheel if y'all are up for trying it.
