I actually do this but for a different reason. I keep an alarm 15m before my actual alarm, which tells me to get ready to wake up. This gives me time to get comfortable waking up and wake up to the time I want to wake up. This works so well because I don't really want to hear the second alarm go off which incentivises me wake up atleast 5m before my second alarm.

Why do I need to create a new account for it? At least it should let me sign in with pixelfed account right?

I actually liked some of the features that came with win11 but it was so bloated that it wouldn't run that well on my old laptop.

Glad to hear that. After trying to linux and not having a great experience, I am forced to comeback to Windows. Will try these out next time.
On that note, do we have some good Windows forks/builds which remove the bloat for us? I heard about lot of them, not sure which one is actually worth trying.

Bixby still alive? I haven't heard about in this AI swarm and assumed Samsung killed it.

Might be a dumb question but why don't we just continue using Win10 post end of it's support? Are security updates that necessary that the system wouldn't work at all? As a kid I have used old Win versions like XP and 7 for a very long time, never had an issue.

Doesn't group policy tweaks gets reverted on update or something like that? I heard about this group policy workaround and also heard something that said it wasn't that great of a solution.

You make a fair point but it's not all doom and gloom. Custom ROMs are a great to way to boost an old phone and run it a bit longer. Your use cases are definitely not mine hence I had a great experience using custom ROMs for the past 4yrs. Agree on it being a time taking process.

Really young folks on here have no idea how amazing it was for computers to go from taking minutes to start up to taking seconds
Pretty sure we don't have such an young audience here on lemmy haha

Why is the buzz around passkeys is back? I am seeing them way more often than they used to be. I think I have created passkeys for 2 apps and don't even know how that worked, it such a breeze that almost felt it wasn't secure lol.
In what ways the passkeys are different than authenticator apps?

Same with me. I really feel I should quit discord but I lose all of my online friends.

I feel 64gb should be the minimum. I had 32gb phone which I used for 6yrs and I used it without SD card. I could run it that long because I had unlimited gphotos backup which came with a custom ROM and I always has to clean it every month or so to have around 2gb free. Now I upgraded to 128gb, let's see how it goes. Idk if I should opt to an SD card.

Damn I thought we would have more easier unofficial methods to unlock bootloader.
This is horrible because Xiaomi devices have a great scene in custom ROM community.

Is this a good news or a bad news?

Since the discussion has come up, let me ask this here.
I have been using Mull for sometime now. It's all good but are there any forks of Firefox that are like chromium forks eg Cromite? Cromite is really good as it offers a ton of extra features too. Mull is great as far as privacy is concerned but I want few features as well. Especially if I could change the app logo and launch animation to stock Firefox that'd be great.

The same site also states Firefox is also spyware. Why treat it good while treat Brave as bad?

Why not Brave
Why YSK: I have seeing been a lot of general posts on various communities where they don't belong. There is a perfect community for this. Posts like: "Feels like I am spending less time on social media after joining lemmy" on ShowerThoughts community. This is a not a shower thought. This is more of a general thought which belongs in !general@lemmy.world "This is not a shitpost but I am loving lemmy" on lemmyshitpost community. This is not even a thought sharing community yet it has been posted and been upvoted to frontpage. This belongs in !general@lemmy.world too. I hope the moderators of all communities tighten up a bit and help posts go where they belong.
With Wimbledon starting today, I can feel this community could getting a bit of traction. We should pump up the activity here as much as possible using this Wimbledon as the catalyst to grow. Keep talking tennis! That being said, Novak gonna wipe the floor again this time. https://media.tenor.com/OnUnEVYhWgYAAAAM/novak-tennis.gif

It's been great 4 days here on fediverse for me. But I started to notice that there is barely any content in form of videos or gifs. Every content is just static in form is images or text. This is what I am really missing here compared to reddit. Is there any particular reason behind it?
Would sound stupid as I don't indepth of PeerTube yet but I have heard that PeerTube is federated video sharing platform. I also heard it can't hold much a load which makes sense as HD videos takes lots of load. That begs me the question why don't we use it for small/short videos(not those vertical videos) to build communities like r/combinedgifs, r/whenthe or r/funnyvideos which are video driven communities? Since we only need at max 2-3min of HD content per post to run these communities, I wouldn't assume it would be much of a load. With this we don't have to depend on third party embedding platforms like imgur(we know what happened over there recently). Also someone make a community like the ones I've mentioned. I am missing video content here on fediverse! This is my first post as well in fediverse :)
