I think so too but I don't see why they wouldn't want to come on the fediverse nonetheless. They can participate but not as mods. Once they build a reputation on the fediverse then of course they could apply for mod.

Thank you for running your own instance. That's the beauty of the fediverse, knowing it can't be taken down unlike on Reddit where the threat was always present. Will not be visiting Reddit's piracy page anymore. We're good here!

The issue lies with what downvotes really mean. We've all seen instances on Reddit where where downvoted to hell because it was an idea contrary to the majority of the sub/echo chamber even though they were totally valid.

If you can turn off swipe left to Google news, get a RSS feed reader, put a full screen widget on page one and all your apps on page 2. Make page 2 your default for home.
