Considering I no longer get out of breath when I walk, deal with indigestion, or have rough skin I'd say life has improved significantly since I went vegan.

Though, as I've mentioned previously, I sometimes feel a lot more lonely and isolated from the rest of the world. I live in a pretty big and diverse city so it's genuinely nonsensical to me how few vegans I've actually come across in real life (I've met, like, four other vegans, one of whom "isn't vegan" anymore.)

As for what I'm up to, I'm moving to a different house so I can finally start my garden up again. It's been way too long lol.

I agree with you. Most of the "meat alternatives" taste like shit and I'm tired of pretending like they don't. One of the main factors in me eventually going WFPB is that I don't like plant-based versions of non-vegan stuff and would rather make my own food from scratch.

I'm sure it does happen but I seriously doubt it happens enough to warrant this kind of recourse.

I don't buy that false accusations ruin the man's life either because real accusations don't even ruin the man's life, as evidenced by the amount of supporters that Johnny Depp, Marilyn Manson, Michael Jackson, and others still have.

Van Gogh is another of my favourites. I remember seeing a Doctor Who clip a while ago where they bring him to the future to show him how successful he becomes posthumously. I've never seen Doctor Who before but that clip really moved me.

Yeah, I feel the same way. My favourite period of art is Surrealism (with Goya generally considered to be either the first surrealist painter or the last traditional one, included him anyway tho). We studied his work during my first year of Art History including how the sort of "hierarchy" surrounding curated art has evolved over the centuries.

I'll be honest, I sometimes get pretty lonely irl being pretty much the only vegan in my life. I tried to organise a vegan group in my city last year and basically everyone who expressed interest was either vegetarian or "flexitarian"/"99% vegan"/"whatever".

Hate to feel like I'm spoiling the mood of the place but feel like you all would understand better than anyone I know in real life.

I live in a country with a monarchy, we are conditioned from a young age to respect them through both school and the media. It is instilled from childhood and habits that are so longlasting are incredibly hard to break. Even though I started to move towards leftism as a teen it still took me another good few years to properly realise how fucked the monarchy was.

Well, here it is! A few days ago, I made a post appealing for information relating to animal product usage in the music instrument industry. Historically, musical instruments have used animal products. Typically, drumheads were made of animal skin, piano keys of ivory, and violin bows of horsehair. A lot of these processes have been phased out (most drums use Mylar for their skins now, and ivory was banned for pianos in the 80s.) Here are some patterns I've noticed while creating this sheet: 1. Drums and harmonicas are the "most vegan" instruments 2. Acoustic pianos are much more likely to use wool than electric pianos 3. The violin industry is the worst for animal products. Most violin manufacturers still use bows with horsehair. 4. Manufacturers specialising in introductory/student products, such as Sigma and Franz Hoffmann, tend to use animal-derived materials rather than synthetic ones. 5. Actual saxophones are vegan, but a lot of manufacturers use genuine leather straps. All companies that use leather for their straps have been labelled as orange. Trumpets, flugel horns, tubas, and trombones are seemingly okay regardless of manufacturer. Some flutes used to use ivory but again, this practice was banned in 1989. 6. I discovered that clarinets tend to use goat skin for their pads. Unfortunately, I could not find any information on exactly which companies use animal skin for their clarinets. Sorry. Another thing I've noticed is that information relating to this topic is EXTREMELY muddy. I would often find a source claiming that a manufacturer did not use animal products only to double check their information pages and see that they use wool. I would find sources claiming a manufacturer isn't vegan only to check their information pages and see that they seemingly use no animal products. For this reason, I cannot guarantee that the information in the spreadsheet is 100% accurate, but this is the closest to accuracy I have been able to get to. This sheet compiles the top manufacturers in each category of instrument. If anyone has any other manufacturers they'd like me to investigate, please just say so in the comments.

Backstory: I am a vegan musician. I recently had a conversation with another user on here after I had mentioned musical instruments and how they have historically used animal products. A lot of manufacturers have now switched to all plant based components but it is very very unclear as to who exactly is vegan friendly or not. I have decided to attempt to create a spreadsheet detailing which instrument manufacturers are vegan-friendly or not. These are the ones I have found answers to: Fender - Seemingly yes Bedell - Yes Martin - Not vegan, uses animal-derived glue Taylor - Yes Moondot - Yes Fishman - Some models are definitely vegan, have not found a definitive answer for their entire range Steinway - Yes Baldwin - Yes Ludwig - Seemingly yes Evans - Yes Remo - Yes Gibson - Not sure, I have found something about them using oysters(what?) in their guitars but this is about 20 years old so not sure if anything has changed Incredibow - Yes Cardiff Violins - Yes Franz Hoffmann - No T Sonada - Yes If anyone has any knowledge of other vegan/non-vegan manufacturers to add to the sheet, preferably with a source, please let me know. If you find that any of the info above is incorrect then again please let me know.

Exactly what it says in the title pretty much. A feijoada inspired dish with pão de queijo. Feijoada: 2 cups black beans 1/2 cup chopped carrots 1 chopped bell pepper 2 chopped potatoes About 1/2 of a tomato 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp coriander 3 cups veg stock I cooked the black beans in a pot then added the bell pepper, carrots, and potatoes, then thr tomato and spices. I let it simmer for about an hour however it didn't thicken that much so I'm assuming I added too much water/stock to the pot, no big deal I'll just use less next time. I served this with brown rice. Pão de queijo: 1 cup tapioca flour 1/4 cup nooch 1/2 tsp saly 1/2 soy milk 1 potato I preheated the oven to 190 then mixed the tapioca flour, nooch, and salt in a bowl. I added the soy milk and stirred until doughy before adding the mashed potato and stirring until combined. You are supposed to roll the dough into balls but I couldn't be bothered so I just scooped it out onto the tray lol, for that reason the presentation is off but it tasted just as good so again it's whatever. I baked for about 25 minutes.

Looong time lurker, first time posting here. I used ChatGPT for soybean recipes and this is one of the dishes it came up with: 1 cup soybeans 1 inch piece of ginger, grated 2 pureed tomatoes 1 tbsp curry powder 1 tsp turmeric powder 1 teaspoon cumin 1/2 cup coconut milk Recipe also listed onion and garlic as ingredients but garlic causes my GERD to flare up and I don't really like the taste of onions so I left them both out. I pre-cooked the soybeans before preparing the curry paste. I cooked the tomato puree, cumin, ginger, turmeric, and curry powder in a splash of water for about 5 minutes until it thickened and then added the soybeans, stirring them until completely coated. I poured in the coconut milk and let it simmer for about 10 minutes before seasoning and serving it. Not pictured is the brown rice I served it with. Overall a relatively quick, simple and nice tasting dish.
