I like cotton swab and ear pick type ASMR. Lately I've been listening to some animated ASMR channels (my favorite) like sato ASMR and hayang ASMR. I almost exclusively listen to it at night or when I'm trying to sleep. Feel free to drop your favorite channels, TikToks, or twitch stream ASMRs btw, we would all love to be exposed to more artists! And if you don't watch ASMR, comment why you don't. Maybe the rest of us could change your mind!

They were trying to get me to vote for this Dem running for a state seat, guy’s a chief of staff for some local establishment democrat, usual machine operation. I explain I’m sick of the democrats, and the volunteer’s response? “Well candidate such and such is actually much more moderate than people make him out to be.” I wryly pointed out that he just said that to a socialist, and at that point I think he realized he couldn’t do anything to pitch his candidate at that point.

Seriously, you can fake a driver's license you can't fake a SS #. Is Trump right about the election being rigged? Kidding aside, I registered as PSL and I'm writing in Claudia and Karina on my mail in ballot, no brainer, but I did think for a second about writing in Stalin (who should not have stopped at Berlin).

About a year ago some user on here who shared a lot of interesting stuff on different conspiracies, shared a link to a website about jonestown being a CIA psy-op. It was very detailed with a lot of image analysis, old reports and news stories. It also went into detail with voice recordings and witness reports that had been initially secreted away .and only made public years later. I forgot to bookmark it and have been looking ever since. I'm not asking for a report or something, but a link to this specific website. I feel like my mom talking about an actor in a movie, but I hope you can help me out.

A few minutes ago somebody rang my doorbell. And I didn't answer it because I was here. Then there was knocking. I worried it was my elderly next door neighbor having some kind of issue. If I didn't answer - I'd feel guilty. As I went to the door through the window I could see it was an old couple I didn't know. Great. A few weeks ago the Mormons also did the shtick where they ring the doorbell and knocked too. I might put up a "no soliciting" sign. I really hate this shit. When I opened the door there was a package right there. I really wondered what was up. It turned out they it that out of the rain and they were with the democratic party. After a few seconds I let them know I wasn't interested and I thanked them for moving my package. So far - no story. Then I went out to my mailbox and there was a handwritten postcard in cursive with a stamp and a postmark and my address also handwritten. > Dear InevitableSwing, > > Thank you for being a voter. Who you vote for is private, but whether you wrote is public record. Please vote in the Tues Nov 5 election. > > John I'm mystified how the postcard has a postmark. Maybe it's fake? The couple's efforts annoyed me and sort of creeped me out. It was dumb luck. Maybe they sent it yesterday or two days ago. (1) I happened to get the postcard in the mail today. (2) They happened to show up *after* my mail was delivered and not before.

It's a situation that I have been expecting for a while, but I wasn't fully ready to accept it. Specifically it's one of my LGBTQ friends who honestly believes in the democrats will protect them and their partner. I have tried to make the point that both parties are eroding any sort of civility towards all marginalized groups, but fear seems to drive them more than logical observations. They make the excuse that change doesn't happen over night and that the left continues to grow and will have meaningful affects down the road. I fundamentally just don't agree with that idea and vocalize it regularly. More and more it is ending up in a circular argument where I am painted as unrealistic and my rhetoric (leftist rhetoric) is doing more harm than good because it promotes distrust in the only system we have to work with. I try to tell them it's kind of the whole point. We gotta start somewhere if we want to see a better, more representative system, but they are so hung up on the immediate future while simultaneously saying that my idealistic feelings are shortsighted and I cant expect change in the immediate future... The double-talk is wild, I know. I am trying my hardest to stop from engaging at this point because on the most basic level we agree on a lot of stuff, but they are just way to wrapped up in the fear mongering of the democratic party. They know that the two party system is broken, they know that something drastic needs to change, but they also think that they are powerless to do anything except choose the lesser evil. It pains me because I am watching them do the same shit past generations have done, where they give up on their ideals for the sake of preserving the current status quo that they benefit from. I am legitimately watching them imply "fuck you, got mine" under the guise of civic duty and I hate it. I want nothing more than to be able to finally say "I told you so" without being a smug asshole about it and ruining our friendship. Thanks for reading my rant. It's probably a bit disjointed, but the frustration is boiling over and I needed to vent to the only group of people that seems to understand the hopelessness of being a disenfranchised leftist.

If I were a big fat bird I'd totally get captured by two starving cartoon cats hiding behind a wall as they watch me fall into their trap (a picture of seeds underneath a cafe held up by a string) There's a gourmet bakery near me. They always throw out really good bread, which I go dumpster diving for. Today they threw out cookies, I have eaten 2 so far. My mom is sick so I'm planning on giving some to her tomorrow, if they survive for that long. I'm fairly new to dumpster diving, so if you have any tips I'd love to get them. I've worked in kitchens, so you don't need to bother with basic food safety.

This is it guys the chance to save democracy and finally have the chance to vote for not genocide. I've been told it is not the time to not vote for Holocaust Harris because lesser evil. Until we have ranked choice we simply must have genocide. Finally we can solve it!!! Anyway the local Democratic party recommends voting no on this measure. Oh well.

Maybe someone here can answer this for me. PSL is an official write-in candidate in my state, but I can't find any rules or guidance from the state on how they want the write-ins formatted. I don't want it to get rejected because of some stupid formatting issue, basically. Any advice or information on how to correctly write in? Obviously, spelling counts. My gut is telling me to do it like the other candidates: ``` De La Cruz And Garcia ```

I watch this [video essayist](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0aSHiQNMy8IMmS7_8WbtdA) on youtube and they posted a video about mukbangs as a concept, how they have changed, and how they relate to eating disorders. Now, the stimulants I take rn heavily supress my appetite to the point were forcing myself to eat can cause nausea. It should also be noted that I'm likely also on the ASD spectrum and chewing noises are excruciating. Holy fuck this video is a cognitohazard, I couldn't get more than a minute into it. Even thinking about it rn make me feel like gagging. People watch this shit? and like it? I'm astounded. To each their own of course, I'd say that I won't yuck someones yum but I am definitely yucking here. How do y'all feel about mukbang content? Other than it often involving animal abuse and severe food waste. Unrelated but here is a picture of my partners kitten! ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.ml%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F8972e906-9445-47da-b01d-df948b1b350f.jpeg) Edit: mukbang is reflective of the desperation of the working class

(I have amended the title of this post based on feedback and critique, to more acutely reflect the target of my grievance) This could be a bad take, but, hear me out. I was once a subscriber to r/atheism a long time ago. I was absolutely a smug ass fucking atheist. I'm not sure what it was that caused this world view I held to change, but as time marched on I've grown incredibly suspect of anyone who willingly identifies themselves as an "atheist". I grew up going to church every week. That slowed as I got older. I remember my grandmother telling me I needed to cut my hair at church, and telling her "I have hair like Jesus, you think Jesus should cut his hair?" I learned later we stopped going to church because they started preaching about antiabortion and my mother wanted nothing to do with that. So I was at least fairly indifferent about religion by the time I was in highschool. I remember Atheism giving me a sense of superiority that was deeply rooted in "facts and logic" despite being a severely under read dipshit in highschool. I'm sure I spent countless amounts of time debating people in comments, being a general idiot on the internet. Probably passively consumed a bunch of Hitchens work/ideas without having read any of his books. At some point I stopped putting a lot of thought into it, and this smug sensibility was pushed into the back of my brain. Then in 2020, like a lot of people, I was swept up in this rise in socialist thinking, leading me to change my entire perspective on the world. I think it wasn't until recently, when I was having a conversation with someone I knew and the topic of Islam came up that I realized how much I had distances myself from this smug atheist perspective. They said something about Islam being an "inherently violent religion", and my gut, instinctual reaction was to blurt out "What? What makes you think that's true?" They responded with something being in the Quran, and again, like water from a faucet the words "Listen, maybe that's true, maybe its not, but Islamic people are not a monolith." poured out of me and the conversation kind of died on the vine. The reason I'm even thinking about this today is because, of all things, I watched the Asmongold "apology" video he published today. He attributes his shit ass takes about Palestinians being an inferior culture and thus worthy of genocide to his "hatred for religious extremism of all kinds". He goes on to say that he was or is a "r/atheist enjoyer" and a self professed "atheist". It really confirmed a lot of assumptions I have about atheism that I guess have been lingering in my skull. Those assumptions being that Atheism is, on it's face, a religion in and of itself. It's belief is in that of non-belief. It has missionaries like most other religious belief systems, seeking to secularize communities and cultures. It believes it is the one true religion and that all other religions are false religions with false gods. It demonizes all other practitioners of these false religions indiscriminately, believing that they are either upholding their wicked systems of oppression, or are directly complicit in them. Countless books have been written about the its theology and the logic of its faith. It is a fully fledged faith, in that you have to believe in this non-belief, on faith that you will be proven correct when you die. Not only all this but its clear to me now that Atheism is the western liberal religious belief system. Its fully compatible with western chauvinism, as it demonizes the wests enemies on the grounds of their systems of belief, which are regularly the reason for the wests interventions. Western wars are "secular" wars and as such they are atheist colonial projects as well. The idea that modernizing a backwards 3rd world country would bring about liberal democracy and with it liberal values. Atheism is liberal values. Now this isn't to say that religious violence doesn't exist or that religious extremism is also a fable, but instead that Atheism and its ideas are a form of religious persecution, it breeds the same phobic believes that other religions develop about the ones they are attempting to conquer. The Atheist believes that through the abolition of religion, via changing hearts and minds, a entire form of violence will be removed as well. It completely denies the material realities and conditions that cause religious extremism to begin with. Because of this, it doesn't recognize that to achieve a secular world, it will only be done so through violence. Somehow the atheist believes that religion and culture are all somehow disconnected and isolated phenomenon. That somehow you can remove religion from the equation without damaging or altering culture. That some how this secularization will happen quietly and without conflict. When I'm asked if I'm religious I say no. if asked if I'm an atheist, I say no. The only thing I would identify as in this context is as a materialist. It matters not to me what lays beyond the vale of life, but what does matter to me is what is happening here and now. Pain and suffering exists here in this conscious reality. Happiness can be achieved here in this conscious reality. That happiness can include religious and spiritual belief. I have no conclusions here. This is just the ramblings of an old wizard. If I'm off base here please tell me. Interested in your perspectives as always comrades.

I was just setting up [remote runners](https://docs.joinpeertube.org/maintain/tools#peertube-runner) for TankieTube when I had an epiphany: ### I could ask comrades to volunteer their own computers! ![quagsire-pog](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2Fa2709d22-49b6-4bfd-8cd0-b9ad586ebe0f.png "emoji quagsire-pog") That way those who can't or don't care to donate monetarily could still contribute. --- ## How would it work? Conceptually, you can think of it like a crypto mining botnet. Except it transcodes videos for the community instead of producing heat for individual profit. And it's voluntary ofc. It can run on any operating system with an internet connection. I'm going to use my gaming desktop and at least one VPS. --- **Tech level required:** comfortable copy-and-pasting things into a CLI. **OpSec considerations:** negligable as far as I can tell. There is no P2P involved. Your computer talks directly to the TankieTube server using sicko-to-HTTPS communication. The server would see your IP address, but that's always the case on every website. --- Thoughts? --- Edit: Email TankieTanuki@pm.me if you want to help beta test a machine. I could use help creating a docker image too because I'm not experienced with that (I still prefer to do everything with Bash scripts). Would Cygwin be the way to go for Windows users?

One of my biggest pet peeves is semantic pedantry, especially if it hinges on invalidating colloquial usage of a term. It's one thing to correct somebody who mistakingly uses a similar-sounding but different-meaning word than what they intended. A good example of this is correcting someone who says "equivocal" when that person actually meant "equivalent." However, it's another thing entirely to fail to understand that words are shaped by how society uses them, not merely a dictionary or an educational textbook. An example of this would be someone saying that it's invalid for humans to identify as asexual as a sexual orientation because in biology, the term "asexual" describes organisms that can reproduce without sexual activity. Being unable to differentiate between connotation and denotation isn't the level of intellect people think it is. It's actually the contrary, as it shows a lack of nuance and an effort to grasp at straws only done by small-minded people who think that solely adhering to literal definitions and rejecting common usage is somehow indicative of some heightened degree of intelligence. I felt inspired to say this because someone on a YouTube video wrote a comment pertaining to Indigenous people, and a "scholar" responded, "What you're saying makes no sense because everyone is Indigenous to somewhere on the planet." It's the degree of smugness that is so damn disproportionate with how warranted the smugness actually is that gets me. Also, this isn't referring to instances where discussing the meaning of a word actually serves some purpose and isn't just nitpicking. That's a whole other subject. ![nerd](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2Fc3c351bb-cee7-484c-aecf-5b87fbc2f496.gif "emoji nerd") ![left-arrow](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F13766db1-b96f-47d0-bc94-e9c0f3282411.png "emoji left-arrow") Basically, fuck these people! ![right-arrow](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F2f5996ae-3812-4357-96ad-710f941b4f11.png "emoji right-arrow") ![smuglord](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F97a4a756-428f-4517-846a-1c810805ad28.png "emoji smuglord")

First things first. Hexbear makes my life bearable sometimes. I don’t use an account because I don’t like how addicted to social media I get sometimes and I’m afraid of pissing people off, because although I consider myself an ML, I come from a very conservative family where I unknowingly say bad things about idpol. Anyways. As a very drunk man (bad very bad day first time drinking in months - not an alcoholic), do you think the US government monitors hexbear? Like if I browse it without a VPN do you think I become a POI, serious, if not stupid, question? Again, thank you for being a shining beacon in my day surrounded by people who justify genocide, political violence against the global south, and endless enterprise. I really am grateful even if I’m not the best Marxist. You’ve taught me about donbas, about the struggles of north Korea, the toils of Iran among so much more Edit: As a still drunkman someone asked me about idpol. I uh can't see ur messages here but I can on my Lemmy client. uh to make myself clear not in an Obama way - I find nick Mullen stuff funny. It makes me feel bad because of the punching down so i avoid it. and I might do things that are unintentionally mean, forgetting to use the correct pronouns (like genuinely I hardly meet with my enby friends so my mind just defaults to calling someone female presenting she rather than the preferred they. I do try to correct but sometimes I'm so absent minded that I'd rather not upset anyone. I am trying to self crit so I'm OK with being dunked on I guess. But I isolate BC I don't wanna upset ppl. Its harder to express my intentions online when I mess up. @lemmmygradwontallowme

CW: troubling thoughts about global crisis Figured I would add a content warning bc would not want to read this on a bad day lol I actually feel crazy sometimes. How am I supposed to accept what marxism tells me the ruling class is willing to do to maintain power and reconcile it with the technology they have without denialism and not feel like a conspiracy theorist. I will see new tech like ai and, especially when the tech is hyped up, wonder what the bourgeois want it for. What might they be developing it to do? They aren't blind, they know what is to come when the earth gets too hot and they aren't doing anything to prevent it. Which leads me to believe they are more focused on insuring their survival which of course implies the automation of our labor, likely through ai which would explain their interest in it. I think I have a strong pattern seeking brain and I want to connect all the dots yk? Tie everything in to one grand understanding. I know that this is likely impossible, many of the things that are done and invested in are likely just solely for the sake of profit. Not everything is a calculated malice. But some of it definitely is, some, likely many, of the ruling class are very conscious of their class position and intend to maintain it through whatever means necessary. I find this internal struggle difficult to manage. I know that my desire for a grand theory is rooted in terror because my response for fear has always been an attempt at understanding and so I am distrustful of this want. Yet, my fear is not unfounded, it is certain that I and all people of all oppressed classes are in danger and it is certain who is responsible. So I am at an impasse. It seems I have three options. I can - feed my fear by giving into conspiracy, let myself find temporary comfort in a constructed reality that validates my inaction - give into denialism and pretend someone will do something and everything will be ok - live the rest of my life in a constant state of dread for the famine and slaughter that is already inevitable I hate y'all for what you did to me (affectionate) I am actively choosing option 3 daily and will continue to do so because it is the only choice that empowers action but I constantly worry about falling into either of the 2 other thought patterns accidentally or without my notice. Do y'all stress about this as well?

I personally use a lever espresso machine and a hand grinder, but I also love a V60 pour over or an aeropress on occasion. I like lighter roasts and pulling 3 to 1 water to bean shots, personally! What do y'all like? ![maduro-coffee](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2Fe0a3d5b3-48f6-4427-ab07-6fefdd4a8e0a.png "emoji maduro-coffee")

The short summary of it is that today, I was just trying to finish my shift when the whole sewage system in the building backed up and flooded the kitchen I work in. I was shocked by this and spent a good hour going back and forth trying to find someone to deal with the raw sewage that was coming up through the floor drains. It took a good 30 minutes for the higher ups to get there, and all during that time, my manager thought a single wet vac could deal with the raw sewage that was swamping the entire kitchen. The odor was horrible and made me nauseous. All the while, the elderly Trump lady I work with was STILL TRYING TO WASH AND PUT AWAY DISHES WHILE SCALDING RAW SEWAGE WAS GETTING CLOSE TO ANKLE DEEP IN SOME PLACES. FOR A GOOD 30 MINUTES. I wanted nothing to do with that. This just left me literally shaking a bit by all of that happening so suddenly. I just wanted to do my job, go home, and have the day off the next day. I just wanted to get my job done. ![ooooooooooooooh](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2Fcdbca19a-ee4c-496d-89f6-1ef99d96061d.png "emoji ooooooooooooooh") (I'm a completionist like that)

spent more time than I want to admit this weekend working on a shape cutout thing for the illustrations and fucking _**hated**_ the results, so I ended up just searching up images and then combining and editing things that I liked here's the final product. I've included the PNGs I printed from in case you liked the blessing and you're the kind of person who would give a homemade card, too. mine is printed on toned cardstock; trimmed card dimensions are 4.5x12" printed, 4.5"x6" folded. ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F5c3df174-3ab3-4461-b410-380c2ff050b4.jpeg) ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2Fd632e131-1727-4d38-85a7-691416f6202b.jpeg) ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2Fcdbdd0a1-86f8-4265-aad9-0da79ff92d76.jpeg) ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F20a292e9-3c5c-4b5a-bb8b-2ea6e0e95e9b.png) ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F2f87d54f-5726-4b7c-9e1b-42a81c39022c.png)

Last night I dreamed that I got banned from Hexbear for 24 hours and told to self-crit. Despite understanding pretty much immediately after the ban went into effect, what I had done wrong, and apologizing to the mod team for the inconvenience, I elected to refrain from all social media for those 24 hours in order to self-crit, which I did by literally time traveling. The odd thing is that in all the other dreams I've had wherein I acted like an uncharacteristically horrible person, I was consistently horrible and completely powerless to stop my own bad behavior despite recognizing it; but this time I was literally given the superhuman ability of time travel in order to go the extra mile to make up for what was ultimately just one bad comment.

I'm making a card to go along with our gift, but deciding what to write inside is hard! I did some searching and compiling of bits and pieces that I liked, and here's what I've got so far, please give your edits/suggestions/etc >May the Sun bring you new energy by day, \ >And may the Moon bring you peace every night. > >May your wisdom and courage never fail, \ >May your kindness be returned multiplied,\ >And may beauty forever grace your heart and gaze. > >May you always have a warm home to return to,\ >A gentle word offered to you, and a safe haven to rest your head. > >May the rains softly wash away your cares and refresh you.\ >May the storms pass you by, the fires only warm you,\ >The tides bear you up, and the earth be a friend beneath your feet. > >May you forever walk in harmony, \ >May you always know your blessings,\ >And may you never want for more.

For starters, since I am on LibreWolf, I have WebGL disabled, meaning that my browser does not support slow, performance-tanking 3D renders, at the cost of breaking them. Now, this is just a positive side-effect as an effort to disable WebGL fingerprinting - if the website is broken, I don't even bother using them. I want to stop supporting websites that are performance-heavy and unnecessarily bloated, so that I can show solidarity with folks who are unbeknownst victims to the digital divide, and discourage enshittification of the internet. Any websites that helps with this?

Credits to u/jurgenlei: Getting tired of this national discksucktion of capitalists, the amount of fuckt\*rds praising Sir Tanan Rata is crazy. It took me one single google search to disillution myself from this fOrCe oF gOod and OnlY BilLionaire who worked for people (d\*mbasses really believe that). It’s a low efforts post because I don’t believe in wasting my time on such bullshit more than I must, but gobble meter is going crazy today. Tldr: Tantan Rata was a capitalist and only worked for himself and no he was not force of good as some of y’all think he was. The Tata Group, a family-owned Indian multinational with 2005 revenues of Rs. 76,500 crores ($17.8 billion), has an unjustifiably good reputation. **1. Helping Killer Carbide:** In 1984, **J.R.D. Tata criticized the arrest** of Union Carbide Chairman Warren Anderson, whose cost-cutting decisions were linked to the disaster. Tata Consulting Engineers also had a role in constructing parts of the Bhopal factory. In 2006, Ratan Tata proposed a charitable clean-up of toxic waste left by Union Carbide, which aimed to aid Dow Chemical’s investment efforts in India. This offer conflicted with the Indian government's efforts to hold Dow accountable for the clean-up, potentially undermining legal actions against the company. **2. Bypassing Democracy:** a. Dictating Indian Policy: The US-India CEO Forum, co-chaired by Ratan Tata, was established in 2005 to enhance business ties between the two nations. It has influenced investor-friendly policy changes in India, **such as weaker labor laws**, Special Economic Zones, and **relaxed liability laws**. With backing from both governments, the Forum wields significant influence over law-making. b. Business with Military Junta: While many companies have exited Myanmar to protest its military regime’s human rights abuses, Tata Motors has continued business with the junta, supplying hardware and vehicles. **The Myanmar military is accused of severe human rights violations, including forced labor and violence against civilians**. Despite international condemnation and ongoing struggles for democracy, including Aung San Suu Kyi’s prolonged house arrest, **Tata has maintained ties with the regime**. **3. Desecrating Tribal Lands:** a. Parched Earth Tactics: Tata's steel operations have displaced tribal communities from their lands, starting with the acquisition of land for mining in Noamundi and the Jamshedpur township. After taking over the area in 1907, Tata reportedly destroyed Kusumgaj trees, crucial to the local adivasis’ livelihood, forcing them to work in the mines. In 2000, **Tata Steel allegedly destroyed a key water spring that served as the sole water source for an indigenous hamlet near its coal mines**, further impacting the local community's way of life. b. Chrome Poisoning: The chromite mines in Sukhinda Valley, where Tatas are a major operator, have been identified as highly polluted by the Comptroller Auditor General. Hexavalent chromium, leaching from mine waste, has contaminated the Domsala River and 30 nearby streams. This toxic substance can cause severe respiratory and skin issues. A study funded by the Norwegian Government found that nearly **25% of people living within 1 km of the mines suffer from pollution-related illnesses**. **4. Violence and Massacres:** ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.ml%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F88d9b15b-779f-49ca-9c33-79ecc89768a9.webp) a. Gua Massacre: On 7 September 1980, tribal villagers in Noamundi protested against the use of their lands for a Tata aerodrome. After Tata Steel chairman Russi Mody avoided the confrontation, Tata and other interests urged the state to suppress tribal activism. The next day, state forces opened fire on unarmed tribals in Gua, killing 8, including those seeking medical treatment, to quell the growing tribal movement in Jharkhand. b. Kalinganagar Massacre: On January 2, 2006, police fired on tribal villagers in Kalinganagar, Orissa, who were protesting Tata Steel’s construction on their ancestral lands. The violent crackdown, occurring shortly after meetings between Tata Steel and the state’s chief minister, resulted in several mutilated bodies. Despite the tragedy and opposition from locals, Tata Steel continued its plans for a steel plant at the site. c. Singur Oppression: In 2006, Tata Motors acquired over 900 acres of farmland in Singur, West Bengal, for a car manufacturing project, with government support. Many farmers, whose lands were forcibly taken, resisted the move. In response, the state, backed by Tata, deployed armed police to secure the project site, turning the area into a heavily policed zone to suppress the opposition. **5. Toxic Dumping:** a. Saline Wastes: In 2003, a spill from Tata Chemicals' soda ash plant in Mithapur, Gujarat, contaminated over 150 acres of the Gulf of Kutch Marine National Park, harming its rich biodiversity. Effluent solids settled in the protected area, degrading around 10 km². The plant’s salt pans have also contributed to increased groundwater salinity, leading to the loss of farmlands in surrounding villages. b. Hell on Earth: Patancheru, near Hyderabad, suffers from severe industrial pollution, earning it the nickname "Hell on Earth." Rallis India, a Tata subsidiary, was identified by the Supreme Court as a significant source of toxic waste contamination. The company stores waste in large evaporation ponds, causing foul odours and toxic air, and affecting nearby villagers. c. Mountains of Waste, Jugsalai: Tata Steel disposes of large amounts of boiler ash in Jugsalai near Jamshedpur, leading to air pollution during dry months as ash dust fills the air. The company has acknowledged groundwater pollution in the area, with levels of hardness and dissolved solids exceeding safe limits. d. Joda Mines: Joda town, a hub for iron ore mining by Tata, Birla, and Jindal since the 1950s, has seen extensive environmental degradation. Continuous mining and heavy ore transport have made the area dusty and uninhabitable, impacting air quality. The town lies near the Sidhamatha Reserve Forest, affecting its wildlife, including elephants and tigers. e. Coal Slurry Dumping: Tata Steel’s operations in West Bokaro discharge coal-dust-rich slurry into the Bokaro River, covering the riverbed and damaging the ecosystem. The process uses large amounts of freshwater, which is then discharged back into the river with coal-dust effluents, further harming water quality. **7. Strong Anti-Labour Policies:** ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.ml%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2Ff81cd353-29a2-4253-b5f2-28ab029eb939.webp) The Tata Group has a history of strong anti-labour policies, particularly during the 1920s and 1930s when the Tata Iron and Steel Company (TISCO) faced significant labour unrest. The company developed a reputation for union-busting, often through violent means. a. Worker Suicides: Since Ratan Tata's leadership began in 1991, aggressive downsizing has led to tragic incidents, including two contract workers who self-immolated in 2003 in protest of their illegal termination. The closure of Svadeshi Mills in 2000, which displaced 2,800 workers, also led to desperation among workers, with at least one suicide linked to the resulting destitution. b. Sub-contracting and Fostering Insecurity: Tata has increasingly employed contract labour to reduce costs, violating the Contract Labour and Regulation Act by assigning contract workers to roles meant for permanent staff. Discrimination is evident, with contract workers receiving lower wages and inferior working conditions despite performing similar tasks. This insecurity has resulted in higher accident rates among contract workers. c. Lay-offs: Despite claims of providing job security, Tata Steel has seen significant layoffs since liberalization. The workforce decreased from 78,000 in 1994 to 38,000 by 2006, with many alleging that the voluntary retirement scheme was coercive, pressuring employees into leaving their jobs under emotional duress. d. Union Busting: In 1989, Tata management responded to a strike by the Telco Kamgar Sanghatana with tactics to undermine the workers’ demands. After a prolonged hunger strike, police intervened under the direction of Tata management, forcibly arresting striking workers and effectively breaking the strike. e. Killings: **Two Tata union leaders, Abdul Bari and V.G. Gopal, were murdered while negotiating with management**, with allegations of Tata management's involvement in both cases, highlighting the violent lengths to which the company may go to suppress labour movements. The classic one is, of course, "ACAB," but I've already gotten into these arguments so I will spare you reading too much on it. Let it suffice to say all US cops are bastards (or, you know, they serve an especially malignant bastard function), all German cops, all UK cops, etc. But, to find a diplomatic way of getting this across, the security patrols deployed by the Panthers were also cops if that word has a non-moral meaning. I think, and this is why I even bring ACAB up, that it gives people something to rally around and maybe even encouraged them to see things differently, and they get attached to it as essentially a dogma without seeing the analysis that produced it (or justified it, in any case). The slogan *becomes* the analysis. It becomes what exists in place of having reasons for what you believe, even when good reasons are out there! I don't know how to do dividing lines I think it's pretty funny when some asshole chud gets fired or injured or whatever and someone comments "another kkrakkka down, unlimited genocide on the first world". The humor comes from the absurdity, that there is no such genocide in the works and the subject in this case usually isn't even dead. It seems like a perfectly fine meme. So then a huge hurricane hits Florida, we have hundreds of normal, mostly poor people dying and people are saying this and, when someone goes "Hey, that's not right" they *double down*. [I was busy when this was happening, this isn't me complaining about being dog piled or whatever] The weird thing about it is that I thought it was 100% a joke, but some people got attached to the phrase in a way that reminds me of people going "ACAB means ACAB" as though it's anything other than an unhinged exclamation that is funny because it's unhinged. I don't know how this happened, but I am forced to conclude that the way the meme was treated up to this point was conditioning people in a detrimental way. Or maybe they were always bloodthirsty chauvinists, but that seems like the greater leap to me. Of course there were a couple of pathetic, cowardly losers in the mix saying "Oh, don't take it so seriously, it's a shitposting site". Those people I direct to 4chan. Antisocial behavior is antisocial behavior, and calling it meaningless to escape that it does have a meaning and that meaning is quite negative is contemptible behavior that should be rejected by the policy of any space that claims to be leftist. Anyway, I don't really have a call to action or anything, except perhaps: Oppose Slogan Worship.

Every time this ghoul is asked a question he avoids answering it any meaningful way and often straight up lies. He has insulted journalists for asking real questions, I just saw an example of this. A journo asked him about the double standards between US stance of human rights violations by Russia and Iran and he fucking ignored it and called it a "speech" passive aggressively and asked him to leave. Fucking soulless ghoul
