But tbh, it’s too late. You can keep telling me (as my friends have) that the average person isn’t a fan, but that means jack shit when the average person uncritically consumes whatever new treat machine is marketed to hell and back by Silicon Valley ghouls, including AI.

I bought a usb interface so I could hook up a guitar and synth and record directly into my pc because I have hundreds of little snippets I’d like to try to do something with, and holy shit recording is *hard* Not sure if this is just the diy nature of it all but yeah it’s actually pretty disconcerting because I have some friends who do it no problem 🫠 maybe it’s just another thing that will take practice to get good Anyone have tips? It honestly seems like people have forgotten what all tech entails with the rise of generative AI. Like holy shit man, people (at my company at least) now think you can write a program to control what is essentially your entire database system, security and business analytics with chatgpt. Maybe I’m just not meant for this and this is the norm. But it’s taken me like 2 months to get a handle on three different types of API and program documentation. And I’ve also been doing like sys admin work too. But three jobs in, and I’m starting to realize this is exactly what companies want. Because why pay multiple people for work in a department when they can just offload everything to one person and pay them nothing and know that the economy is so fucked that you’re basically trapped Like I integrated one system to another for my senior project in undergrad and I had a little help on that from another business. But now I’m doing it all alone and being expected to work at super speed at the same time

A cool paper and all, but I can’t stop thinking about how this shit won’t matter at all to C suites and MBAs who just want to AUTOMATE AUTOMATE AUTOMATE everything under the sun. Reminds me of how the experts in whatever specialized field research a problem and business people just throw away the results and make up their own (i.e. marketing). The conversation should have always been “Yeah your job will eventually become automated, but it’s not for the reason you think.”  Will be very interesting to see how the next few years play out

I don’t know what the fuck happened, but some redditor messaged me about a very niche post I made on a niche subreddit and we’ve been talking for almost 6 months. I’ve never seen them, they’ve never seen me, etc. But like I said we’ve been messaging (first on Reddit then I got their number) pretty consistently now. I get extremely anxious when I send texts out to multiple people and get no replies, especially when I see some of my friends with hundreds of unread texts (is it something I said?) It would kinda make sense too, considering how algorithms are designed to give you what you want. Idk is that a stretch? But yeah I’m interested in the science behind why my happy brain chemicals go off the rails when I get the slightest bit of validation, this also makes me even more skeptical about the idea of SSRIs
