I was never really a big fan of GITS for its action sequences, but they are a nice touch. I think you're right in your second point. The only anime that comes to mind in that milieu would be Kaiba (Kino's Journey too, but that's a totally different premise).

What would you recommend instead of GITS? I've always had a soft spot for it considering it was my first "adult" anime.

This month:
Last Exile: WW1 aesthetics, but taking place entirely in flying ships. Tons of passable CGI with very ok dogfights. It's pretty average, but you do get one of the leads as Haruko from FLCL. I've had this one on my to watch list for over a decade, so I'm pretty disappointed that it turned out to be passable at best.
Oshi No Ko S2: I'm also disappointed with this one, but for a different reason. The first episode (movie?) of the first season was absolutely stellar. Psychological thriller par excellance. It seems to just be a harem with pretty animation now, I guess? I feel like it has all the potential to be something great, but it misses so many layups that I might just drop it considering what is supposed to be coming in the manga. I'm particularly irked with Kana being written to fawn over the main character, when she has the depth to be more than that.
I'm looking forward to starting Dan Da Dan sometime soon considering the studio behind it.

This was in a place that I had been before and had experienced the same treatment, which us why I brought the recorder. I left my backpack in the spot I was sitting to get up for a few minutes and they rifled through it. They found it about an hour and a half in to the recording.

The talking shows up on Audacity. One would think a decibel rise would be enough.

For context, I have no idea why they didn't delete the recording outright. One of them came back to turn the recorder off after about 2 hours and fifty minutes, seemingly to taunt me.
I feel vindicated. What I have now in my possession took me 8 fucking years to get. It's not the typical shit that you hear from people who claim to be Gangstalked (EG: People are making hand signals at me, there's a lot of red cars around me, etc.) 2.5 hours of pure unadulterated abuse. The kind of shit you'd hear said in a blacksite. Going through it again to verify that I'm not just hearing things was especially hard, but I finally have it. It's absolutely pure arrogance on their part as well because they dug around in my backpack for my voice recorder and acknowledged that there's "a lot of evidence on there", and then kept abusing me. 8 years of my life people called me crazy because I gave up on trying to gather evidence for the longest time. Now I have it. I don't really want to say too much more because I am going to have to start legal proceedings soon, but I just wanted to let you know about one of the small victories that fell into my lap.

The movie covers a third of the actual story. It was made while the Manga was being published, so it left a ton out out of necessity. The biker gangs are more fleshed out, and there's a good amount of post apocalypse story telling. It is long as hell (2000+ pages), but there's still nothing like it.

Obligatory "Goodnight Punpun" recommendation. Also, the original Akira manga is a masterpiece, the movie doesn't do it justice (even though it's still pretty good).

Putting up posters is cheaper and less legally dubious.

Is running the Native American caucus again this year?
It's set in the style of a cinematic movie trailer, with a ton of glossy stock nature shots. It has (I think) AI Morgan Freeman as the voiceover. It's about 2 minutes long, and the punch line is something along the lines of "...it all depended on one fact, that he was gay and chinese". It got posted on /r/chapotraphouse a long time ago, and I haven' been able to find it since.

Have to disagree. "Rock Band" killed that one for me.

He's from Philly, so you know he's a fighter.
He'd win too. Why stop at being the head of a genocidal client state, when he can be the big dog?

If you want to pay my wages while I'm fucking around in court, be my guest.
Just saved myself a few hours with that one.

I've tried it, but I never noticed any buzz. Probably for the best.

It got so bad that Luis Arce was expelled from MAS last year.
I feel like I've heard quite a bit about Burkina Faso, Lamumba, and Egypt, but never anything about Ethiopia or Eritrea. What's a good place to start learning a bit more about these extremely large countries? I feel like most people memory hole these places like they do with Laos.

About 40 hours into a Stardew Valley run, and I forgot how fun the game was (stopped playing in 2016 or 2017). I feel like I've barely scratched the surface. There's so much in this game, I can barely believe 1 guy made it (and continues to work on it over a decade later).

Yeah. I've heard speculation that it's a demographics thing.
Might be of use to someone. Seems like they have plenty of resources in their sidebar if you don't want to talk to the commenters.
Songs, albums, or EPs, I want to hear them!
Hello! I've recently picked up learning Spanish because I work with a ton of dudes from Mexico. How much can I reasonably expect to learn from this app? I looked at their "curriculum" and it seems pretty short compared to what I think I'll need. What are some resources beyond "talk to your coworkers", that will put me on the right track?
It has to be some sort of put on, right?
Wonderful and relaxing set from the legend. RIP Frankie.
In addition to just being a very entertaining movie, this thing has such sinister vibes around it. So many winks and nods to CIA linked events in the near future like the car bombing of Orlando Letellier that would happen within a year of this movie releasing, as well as the invasion of the middle east. There's even a scene where the CIA media analyst / counter-intelligence agent looks directly into the camera and asks who would make a job like his. They even brought Richard Helms (the former CIA director) on as a consultant. I don't usually get weirded out by movies easily, but it left me feeling very unsettled. Watch this movie if you haven't seen it yet.
I'm also on Cloudresearch, but these sites are only getting me like $5 per day before I burn out. Are there better alternatives with maybe a little more effort or better pay?
Like, I see all these other shows making podcast empires (Chapo has one, Rev left has one, etc.) while the podcast of the website continues to only be featured in Intercepted once. You'd think there would be more crossover between them and other left shows considering how popular Gramscian critiques are.
The pay per hour is shit, but you never have to leave your computer and you get a dopamine hit when you complete a task. Beats taking surveys monetarily. You get more per hour when you've completed more tasks. I would only recommend this if you're absolutely struggling.
Crimethinc has been good shit for many years now. No idea if it was arson or accidental, it is a tragedy nonetheless.
